IGNOU M.Com. Admission 2020: Eligibility, Last Date, Entrance Exam

IGNOU offers various UG, PG and Doctoral level courses in multiple specializations under different schools through distance education mode. The university offers Master of Commerce (M.Com) in four specializations under the School of Management Studies (SOMS). The duration of the course is two years (minimum) and can extend up to five years (maximum).

For admission to M.Com, a candidate must have passed Bachelors degree from a recognized university. Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying degree. Program fee is INR 13,200 (6600 per year). IGNOU invites applications for admission to M.Com twice a year i.e. in January and July. Interested candidates can register for the M.Com program directly through the official IGNOU admission portal and submit the fees via Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking. IGNOU M.Com Application Process

Candidates can fill and submit the application form for M.Com program through online mode. Interested candidates can apply by following the below given steps:

For Re-Registration Visit (https://onlinerr.ignou.ac.in/)
  1. Visit the admission portal of IGNOU and create your user ID & password by clicking the "Register Yourself" button. Student must remember his/her Username and Password for subsequent login.
  2. Already registered/ existing users must click the "Login" button and enter their username along with the password to go any further.
  3. Fill the application form and upload the required documents.
  4. Pay the application fee through Online Payment Gateway, i.e. by Debit/ Credit card or through net-banking.
  5. After successful fee submission, take the printout of payment confirmation slip for future correspondence.
  6. Click on ‘Submit’ to complete the application process successfully.
  7. Students can keep track of the application status by using their registration number & password.

    Note: Do not send the hard copy of the application form to any of the regional centers of IGNOU.

    Documents required for uploading:

    • Scanned Photograph and Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB in size)
    • Scanned copy of Age Proof
    • Scanned copy of relevant Educational Certificates
    • Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (if any)
    • Scanned Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC
    • Scanned Copy of BPL Certificate, if Below Poverty Line

    IGNOU M.Com Eligibility Criteria

    M.Com (General) is specially designed to equip students with necessary conceptual, entrepreneurial and analytical skills required for handling the Business Operation, particularly in International Business.

    Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree or any higher degree from a recognized university.

    IGNOU Reservation

    Students with a disability of 40% or more are given additional two years beyond the maximum duration prescribed for the completion of program. IGNOU offers reservation to SC/ST/ NCL-OBC/ War Widows/ Kashmiri Migrants and Physically Handicapped as per the rules prescribed by Government of India.

    IGNOU M.Com Admission Process

    • Admission is granted on the basis of marks in the last qualifying degree.
    • University's admission committee releases the merit list as per candidates’ marks in UG degree.
    • Shortlisted candidates have to report at the respective Regional or Study center of the university with all the required documents in order to confirm their admission, i.,e
      • ID Proof 
      • Copy of Mark sheets of class 10+2, Graduation

    IGNOU M.Com Scholarship

    Scholarship forms can be obtained from the Regional Center of IGNOU followed by submission at Social Welfare Office or Directorate of Social Welfare in the respective states.

    National Center for Promotion of Employment of Disabled People (NCPEDP) also offers scholarships to the students enrolled in the PG programs offered by IGNOU.

    Hi Team, I have done my B.com in the year of 2007 and planning to do my M.com now along with CMA USA certified course. Will IGNOU comes under IMA recognized university. Will IMA consider me as a M.com student to do CMA USA course. Please clarify

    Hi Geetha, yes, you are eligible for this course. However, admission to this course will be done on the basis of entrance exam conducted by the university.

    Hi Sarabjeet, yes, you are eligible to apply for admission to MBA. However, admission will depend on your score in OPENMAT conducted by the university.

    Hi Tajinder, if you have missed your first semester exam then you can as appear in supplementary exams. Ignou takes exam in month of June and December so if you have missed your exam in June you can give in December by enrolling yourself for supplementary exam.

    Hi Madhu, no, you can take maximum 6 years for completion of a degree but like other universities, it will take minimum 3 years for pursuing a degree.

    Hi Aswini, no, there is no such thing as M.Com is only for Hons students. B.Com students can also apply for this course. In fact, in IGNOU, any graduate candidate can apply for admission in M.Com.

    Hi AB, no, IGNOU offers distance education for all courses. Thus, no classes will be there and if any, they will be optional.
