Visvesvaraya Technological University is a collegiate public state university in Karnataka State, India. It was established by the Government of Karnataka. Every year, the university offers admission in various UG (Under Graduate), PG (Post Graduate) and Ph.D. courses.
B.Tech is a full time 4 year program. To be eligible for admission to B.Tech program in Visvesvaraya Technological University, candidates must have passed class 12 with Physics and Chemistry with minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ ST).
The registration for admission to B.Tech program has started already. Students who wish to apply can submit their application form on the official website of VTU. Candidates have to pay an application fee of INR 3000 at the time of registration process. The registration will close in the month of August 2017.
The selection is done on the basis of written test KCET. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s performance in the entrance test. Qualified candidates will be considered for admission.
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) is a state level offline test conducted for admission to undergraduate programs in Karnataka. For the academic year 2017, it was conducted on May 2 to 3, 2017. The exam is conducted in three parts- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology. Each paper consists of 60 multiple choice questions with the duration of 70 minutes. Every question carries one mark, there is no negative marking for incorrect and unanswered questions.

Candidates who wish to apply for admission to B.Tech program in VTU, have to fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below:
The registration for admission to B.Tech program has started from June 2017. Eligible candidates can submit their application form on the official website of Visvesvaraya Technological University. The application process will be closed in the month of August 2017. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted.
All the information which is mentioned on the application form must be correct and similar with the information of original documents. If any candidate found ineligible at the time of admission process his/ her candidature will be cancelled. Students have to mention a valid email address or phone number on the application form. All the information regarding admission process will be sent by the email only.
Steps to Apply:
The selection process consists of written test. Candidates who wish to apply must qualify the entrance test KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test). Qualified candidates will be considered for admission. KCET 2017 was conducted on May 2 to 3, 2017. KCET 2017 Result has been announced on May 30, 2017 on the official website of exam.
Candidates successfully qualified KCET 2017 can apply for admission to B.Tech program in VTU. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidate’s performance in the written test.
Merit list for KCET 2017 will be published on the official website, i.e. kea.kar.nic.in. The merit list of qualified candidates is prepared after evaluating their cumulative score of the opted subjects in class 12 or equivalent exam and in KCET 2017.
Candidates successfully qualified KCET 2017, have to participate in counselling process which is conducted by the official authority of KCET. KCET 2017 Counselling is conducted in three rounds in both online and offline mode, for the convenience of students.
KCET 2017 Counselling has begun. Candidates will have to report for the document verification with the original documents as per the schedule announced by the authority. All the eligible candidates taking admission to B.Tech program in Visvesvaraya Technological University through KCET, have to participate in the counselling.
Before participate in counselling, candidates must complete their document verification to be able to go for option entry and other stages of seat allotment. The last date for verification of documents was June 22, 2017.
