ISI Kolkata PG Admission 2019: Courses, Eligibility, Application Process

Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) offers Master of Technology in Computer Science, Master of Technology in Quality Reliability and Operations Research, Master of Science in Quantitative Economics, Postgraduate Diploma in Business Analytics (jointly with IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta).

In order to seek admission in ISI Kolkata master programs, candidates need to pass an admission test and clear the interview process. Read More: ISI Kolkata admission 2019

The procedure to fill an online application form is the same irrespective of the program chosen. ISI Kolkata Application form fee is INR 700 for general category and INR 350 for SC/ST/PH category applicants

Eligibility Criteria of PG Programs at ISI, Kolkata

ME/M.Tech , MBA/PGDM & M.Sc

M.Math

  • Three years Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, or
  • BE/B Tech Degree, with Mathematics as a subject, or
  • B Stat degree from ISI.
  • Candidates with B Math (Hons) degree from ISI are offered direct admission to this programme.

M.Stat

  • A three-year Bachelor’s degree or a BE/B Tech degree with Statistics as a subject, or
  • B Math degree from ISI, or
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics from ISI.

Master of Science in Quality Management Science[MS (QMS)]

  • A three-year Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject, or
  • BE/ B Tech degree in any discipline.

Master of Science in Quantitative Economics [MS (QE)]

  • A three-year Bachelor’s degree in Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics
  • B.Stat degree from ISI
  • B.E/ B Tech degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE).

Master of Technology in Computer Science [M Tech (CS)]

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Electronic Science/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Information Technology, or
  • BE/ B Tech degree or any other qualification considered equivalent

Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research [M Tech (QROR)

In order to be eligible for admission to this programme, an applicant must have

  • M Tech/ ME/ MS/ M Phil or equivalent degree in Quality/ Reliability/ Operations Research, or
  • M Stat/ M Sc/ MA or equivalent degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/Physics with Mathematics as a subject at the graduate level, or
  • BE/ B Tech or equivalent degree in the above subjects with outstanding knowledge in relevant subjects.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Analytics

Successfully graduated candidates can apply for this program.


How to fill the ISI Admission Test Application Form 2019

ME/M.Tech & MBA/PGDM

  1. Registration- Candidates will be asked to fill in basic details like Name, Email, Mobile no. to generate login Id. 
  2. Sign in the account and fill personal as well as educational qualifications
  3. Upload the scanned photo and signature as per the specifications mentioned below.
  4. Pay the application form fee online through Net keeping money/Debit or Credit Cards.
  5. Candidates can also pay the amount at the closest SBI branch through the challan which must be downloaded while filling the application form. The payment must be made 2 days after downloading it.
  6. After completing all steps, applicants will get an SMS notifying them of their registration
  7. Applicants who have chosen online payment mode must ensure to note the transaction ID after payment.
  8. Applicants who have chosen offline payment mode must ensure the challan after the payment is stamped properly by the Bank

Selection Procedure PG Programs at ISI, Kolkata

ME/M.Tech , MBA/PGDM & M.Sc

M.Math

  • B Math (Pass) degree candidates selected for admission to the programme is based on written admission tests and subsequent interview performance.
  • The admission tests will comprise multiple-choice questions in Mathematics in the first part and short-answer type questions in Mathematics in the second part. 

M Stat (BE/ BTech)

  • The written admission test is designed to assess competence in the theory, methods of statistics and comprehension in Mathematics and has two parts. 
    (i) Multiple-choice questions in statistics and mathematics at the undergraduate level in the first part, and 
    (ii) Short answer questions in statistics and mathematics at the undergraduate level in the second part. 
  • Candidates with B Stat (Hons) degree from ISI who are directly admitted to this programme has to study in Kolkata for the first year. Other selected candidates have to study either in Delhi or Chennai

MS.LIS

  • Selection of candidates will be based on the written tests and subsequent interview performance.

MS(QMS)

  • Selection of candidates is based on the performance in written tests and subsequent interview.
  • The written admission tests will comprise of multiple-choice and/or descriptive questions in Mathematics at the undergraduate level.

Master of Science in Quantitative Economics [MS (QE)]

  • Selection of candidates to this programme will be based on performance in written tests and subsequent interview. Academic records may also be taken into consideration.
  • The written admission tests will comprise multiple-choice in both Economics and Mathematics at the undergraduate level. 

Master of Technology in Computer Science [M Tech (CS)]

  • A candidate is admitted to this programme through written tests and interview. The written Admission Test typically consists of two parts:
    • Group A: Mathematics at the undergraduate level and in logical reasoning.
    • Group B: A test, divided into five sections carrying equal marks, in Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics at the postgraduate level and in Computer Science, Engineering and Technology at the B Tech level. 

Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research [M Tech (QROR)]

  • The Admission Test is conducted in two sessions (forenoon and afternoon):
    • Session 1: a multiple-choice type of test in Mathematics at the undergraduate level;
    • Session 2: a descriptive test for the two streams as follows: Part I (for Statistics Stream): A test divided into two sections carrying equal marks, in Statistics and Probability
  • Part I (for Statistics Stream): A test divided into two sections carrying equal marks, in Statistics and Probability. Candidates must answer questions from both the sections.
  • Part II (for Engineering Stream): A test divided into two sections carrying different marks, in Mathematics and Engineering.
