Kannur University, Kannur is one of the largest universities in Kerala. Kannur University offers various courses in the fields of arts, commerce, science and management. It is well spread in three district namely, Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad and has 7 campuses in total.
It offers Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) to candidates with a graduation degree. There are 50 seats in total that are available for admission each year. Admission notification comes out in the month of May, every year. It is a 2 year (4-Semester) course conducted at the School of Pedagogical Sciences of Kannur University. The minimum requirement of marks for admission to B.Ed. is 50% or equivalent CGPA in Bachelors Degree.
B.Ed. aspirants must have cleared B.A./B.Sc/B.Com/M.Com Degree examination (under the 10+2+3 pattern) with one main/core subject and two elective/complementary courses from this University or any other University recognized by this University as equivalent thereto.
Candidates who passed their qualifying examination from the Universities outside Kerala ( recognized by UGC) after regular study need not produce Equivalency Certificate.
SC/ST candidates and natives of Lakshadweep, Aided or Government Teachers with 3 years of regular service need to secure a pass in the Degree Examination.
The candidates belonging to SEBC will be given a relaxation of 5% and the candidates belonging to OEC (Other Eligible Category) will be given a relaxation of 5% from the prescribed minimum marks.
Blind candidates who have more than 40% disability will be given relaxation of 5% from the prescribed minimum marks. Candidates should be Physically fit and mentally sound. Blind candidates will be eligible for admission to courses other than Science optional.
However, Deaf/Dumb candidates are not eligible.
10% of seats will be reserved for the teachers working in Kerala ( in Govt. College only).

Selection will be based on the marks/grade obtained by the candidate in the Degree Examination. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview, prior to which admission to the selected candidates shall be secured.
Special preference will be given to the candidates with a master’s degree. Extra marks will be given to the candidates on the basis of their marks/grades secured in their post-graduate degree examinations.
A weight of 5 points/marks will be given to candidates who have taken a Degree from Kannur University. Eligible weightage will be given to NSS and NCC certificate holders.
In the case of applicants with double main and triple main subjects, admission will be based on the total of all main subjects, and weightage will be given only on the subject which the applicant applies as optional.
