Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) is a public university in India. It was established on August 5, 1972, by the Government of Bihar. The University has 43 constituent colleges and 25 affiliated colleges besides two government colleges, namely, Darbhanga Medical College, Birouli and Hospital & Rural Institute, Samastipur.

Lalit Narayan Mithila university initially functioned from the Mohanpur House at Sara Mohanpur village of Darbhanga–Sakri route. In 1975, it was shifted to the campus belonging to Raj Darbhanga. It offers admission to various under graduate, post graduate, and doctoral level courses.

The university also offers three year full time graduation degree in following programs BA, B.Com, and B.Sc. Each course has multiple disciplines tabulated below:

B.A. (Bachelor of Arts)English, Hindi, Bengali, Maithili, Oriya, Urdu, Library and Information Science, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology,

Candidates who wish to apply can download the application form from the official website of the university also they can obtain the same from the university campus.

The selection of candidates is based on the merit list which is prepared by the university. The university will publish the combined merit list to shortlist the candidates on the basis of their last qualifying marks. Shortlisted candidates will participate in counselling process.

BA , B.Com & B.Sc

To seek admission to BA, B.Sc., B.Com courses in Lalit Narayan Mithila University, students have to fulfill the complete eligibility criteria prescribed by the university.

  • Students should have passed class 12 in relevant stream from a recognized board.
  • Applicants are required to obtain at least 50% marks in class 12 to be eligible for admission.

The same can also be obtained from the Course Coordinator, University Department of Zoology, Kameshwara nagar, Darbhanga” by remitting the amount of INR 125 via DD or Cash, payable to “PGDGC” at ‘Darbhanga’ along with a Self- addressed envelope having the stamp of INR 25.
