Aligarh Muslim University is a public central university established in year 1875. It is UGC recognized and accredited by the NAAC. It is a fully residential university having 13 faculties, 7 constituent colleges, 15 Centers, 3 Institutes and 10 schools. University offers various undergraduate and post-graduate level courses.

If in case, candidate has downloaded the application form from website then filled in application form along with required documents and bank draft of INR 150 must be sent to study center.

Candidates need to pay the application fee of INR 150 if they obtain the application form from Center of Distance Education or any of its study center or by sending bank draft along with the filled in application form. Candidates can send a bank draft of INR 200 for getting the application form through post.
Eligibility criteria for different courses are different as set up by the university. The set-up eligibility criteria are as follows:
|B.A. (Hons.)||Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) 10+2, in any stream of this University or an examination recognized by the University as its equivalent|
|B. COM. (Hons.)||Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC, 10+2), in any stream, from AMU or equivalent recognized by AMU|
|M.A.||Any candidate who has passed B.A./B.Sc./ B.Com. or an equivalent degree with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of Aligarh Muslim University, or any other University or Institute in any state recognized by UGC or AICTE|
|M.COM||Any candidate who has passed B.Com. or an equivalent degree with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of Aligarh Muslim University, or any other University or Institute in any state recognized by UGC or AICTE|
|Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGD-JMC)||Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any institution recognized by AMU|
|Post Graduate Diploma in Portfolio management (PGD-PM)||Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any institution recognized by AMU|
|Post Graduate Diploma in Language for Advertisement, Marketing & Media (PGD-LAMM)||Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any institution recognized by AMU|
|Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance &Counseling (PGD-G&C)||Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any institution recognized by AMU. Preference will be given to candidates having a background of Psychology, Educational psychology, Education, M.Ed., Social Work, Child Development, Human Development. Candidate having MBBS / BDS / B. Tech. will also be considered for admission|
|Bachelor of Library& Information Science (BLIS)||BA / B.Sc. / B. Com Examination of this university or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks from any institution recognized by AMU; OR BA / B.Sc. / B. Com Examination having 45% marks with library experiences of 5 years in a recognized library; OR BA / B.Sc. / B. Com Examination having 45% marks with Master’s degree in Second Division from this University or from any other recognized University / Institution.|
|Diploma in Communicative Skills in English (DCSE)||Certificate in Communicative English / B.A. Part-I from AMU or from any Institution recognized by AMU.|
Selected candidate’s names will be displayed at the Office of the Center of Distance Education, and its Study Centers. Admission will be open to candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and verification of all required documents. No separate entrance exam will be conducted for admission purpose.
