Central University of Kerala UG and PG Admissions 2018

Central University of Kerala (CUK) is one of the 8 central universities of the country which offer admission to its Under-Graduate (UG) and Post-Graduate (PG) programmes through Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET).

Candidates can register for the test through the online registration process available on the official CUCET website. Upon successful submission of application, candidates must submit the processing fee through online/offline payment modes within the stipulated time.

Upon successful submission of applications and online payment of required fees, the students will receive a confirmation message instantly. If the payment is done through offline mode, candidate will get a message after reconciliation from the bank within 2-3 days of payment.

Applications should be submitted online only. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for admission to UG/ PG programmes on the basis of their score in the CUCET.

Eligibility Criteria

The following sections contains detailed eligibility criteria for various programmes offered by Central University of Kerala.

BA

B.A. International Relations – 40 seats

  • Candidate must possess minimum 50% marks or equivalent in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board. For SC/ST candidates, minimum required aggregate is 45%
  • The candidates should not have completed 19 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned admission year.

MA

M.A. (Economics) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.A. (English & Comparative Literature) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in English from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.A. (Linguistics & Language Technology) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in English from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.A. (Hindi & Comparative Literature) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade in Hindi from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.A. (International Relations & Political Science) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.A. (Malayalam) – 26 seats

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in Malayalam from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

Master in Social Work (M.S.W) – 26 seats

  • Candidate should possess Bachelor’s Degree (studied in 10+2+3 system) in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University. 5% relaxation in minimum requirement of marks granted to SC/ST candidates
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Ed

Master of Education (M.Ed.)  

English – 8 seats

Science – 10 seats

Social Science – 9 seats

Mathematics – 8 seats

  • Candidate should possess B.Ed Degree (studied in 10+2+3+1 System) in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University. For SC/ST candidates, minimum required aggregate is 45%
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2016 of the concerned year of admission

LLM

Master of Law (L.L.M.) – 30 seats

  • Candidate should possess a three-year/five-year regular LL.B. Degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university with at least 50% marks or equivalent grade point in the aggregate
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc

Master in Science (M.Sc.)  

M.Sc. Animal Science – 20 seats

  • B.Sc. in Zoology (studied in 10+2+3 system) with Botany and Chemistry/Biochemistry as subsidiary subjects or Any subject under Life Sciences with Zoology as a major/core subject with minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject, from a recognized University.
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Biochemistry and Molecular biology – 20 seats

  • B.Sc. with Chemistry/Biochemistry/any subject under Life Sciences with Chemistry/Biochemistry as a major/ core subject (studied in 10+2+3 system) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject, from a recognized University.
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Chemistry – 16 seats

  • B.Sc. degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate for Science subjects, with Chemistry as the Main or one of the Main subjects, and Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Computer Science – 20 seats

  • B.Sc. Computer Science/ BCA / B.Tech. Computer Science or equivalent with 55%marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying examination from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks.
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Environmental Science – 20 seats

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering/Agricultural Sciences/ Geology/ Geography with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks.
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Genomic Science - 20 seats

  • B.Sc. with Biotechnology/Biochemistry/any subject under Life Sciences with Biotechnology/ Biochemistry as a major/core subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject, from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Mathematics – 26 seats

  • B.Sc. in Mathematics with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the optional (main and subsidiaries) subjects from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Plant Science – 20 seats

  • B.Sc. in Botany/Plant Science or any subject under Life Sciences with Botany/Plant Science as a major/core subject with minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject, from a recognized University
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission

M.Sc. Physics – 20 seats

  • B.Sc. Physics with minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the subject from a recognized University (studied in 10+2+3 system)
  • For SC/ST candidates, 5% relaxation is granted in the minimum requirement of marks
  • The candidates should not have completed 25 years of age as on July 1, 2018 of the concerned year of admission


How to apply

LLM , MA & M.Ed

Candidates are required to fill the online application form in order to appear for CUCET 2018. Candidate may fill the form partially and login again to complete it later.

Candidates will receive confirmation alerts at the time of registration and after completing payment through online modes. In case of offline payment through E-challan, the applicant will get a message after reconciliation from SBI.

Pre-requisites for applying to CUCET 2018:

  • Email id
  • Scanned photo
  • Scanned signature
  • Credit card, Net banking or ATM-cum-Debit card (for online Payment mode)

CUCET application process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Candidate should login to official CUCET website and go to the “Apply” section.

Step 2: Click on the Registration link against the UG/PG Course which you want to apply for. After successful registration, candidate will receive a mail and message at the respective register email ID and mobile.

Step 3: After filling-in all the relevant details carefully, candidate should upload his/her scanned photo and signature.

Note: The photograph should have dimensions 200 x 230 pixels and the file size should be between 10kb to 100 kb. The signature image should have dimensions 140 x 60 pixels and the file size should be between 5kb to 20kb

Step 4: In the next step, candidate should register for three courses in a particular selected program from Central University of Kerala

Step 5: In this step, candidates can edit their applications and proceed for payment of processing fee through any of the following modes:

Online mode of payment: Candidates can pay the required application fee through online payment modes such as Netbanking/ Creditcard/ Debitcard.

Offline mode of payment: Candidates can also pay the required fee offline through E-Challan at any SBI branch. If an applicant pays the examination fee through offline challan mode of SBI, the bank charges of INR 50 will be borne by the candidate.


Selection Process

LLM , MA & M.Ed

Admission to all the above mentioned programmes of the Central University of Kerala is done through scores obtained in the Central University Common Entrance Test (CUCET). 


Reservation Criteria

In each department, 15%, 7.5% and 27% of seats are reserved for SC, ST and OBC respectively. According to Govt. of India norms, 3% of the seats are reserved for differently abled persons
