Annamalai University B.Sc. Agriculture & B.Sc. Horticulture Admission 2020: Admit Card, Dates, Eligibility

Annamalai University is one of the first institutions in the country to offer courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture, and arts.

The university offers the following UG courses in the field of agriculture: 

  • B.Sc. Agriculture
  • B.Sc. Horticulture

Only candidates who have completed 10+2 qualifying examination from a recognized university are eligible for admission to these programmes. Admissions to the B.Sc. Agricutlture and B.Sc. Horticulture programme is done on the basis of the marks scored by the candidate in their respective qualifying examination (Higher secondary examination). 

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility can register themselves by filling-in the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of INR. 800/- (INR. 400/- for SC/ST/SCA candidates).

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agriculture) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Horticulture Science)

Eligibility:

Candidate should have passed 10+2 with a central/state board of examination which is recognized by the discipline of the study of Annamalai University with a bare minimum of aggregate which is as follows:

  • 55% for open category
  • 50% for Backward Class (BC), Backward Class Christians and Backward Class Muslims (BCM)
  • 45% for Most Backward Class, DE Notified Community(DNC)
  • Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) – Passing marks in qualifying exam with the qualifying subjects

Higher secondary education should include the following subjects for approval:

  • Mathematics or Botany or Biology as the first subject
  • Physics as the second subject
  • Chemistry as the third subject

Electives – Computer Science/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Nursing/Nutritional Dietetics (if first subject chosen is Mathematics).

  1. Zoology (if the first subject chosen is botany)
  2. Biology/ Computer Science /Statistics/ Biochemistry/Home Science (if the first subject is chosen as chemistry)

Note: If the candidate has not chosen the first three subjects or fails to qualify through these three subjects, the aggregate marks of the electives will be taken into consideration.


How to Apply

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agriculture) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Horticulture Science)

Candidates can register themselves for the above-mentioned courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website- http://www.annamalaiuniversity.ac.in/adm/
  • Fill the concerned application form to register for the B.Sc. (Agri.)/B.Sc. (Horti.) programmes.
  • Upon filling in all the relevant details, the candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence.
  • Online Application Number is the Registration Number of the Annamalai University B.Sc.(Ag.)/B.Sc.(Horti.) Admissions.
  • The candidate should also submit a registration fee INR. 800/- (INR. 400/- for SC/ST Candidates) through demand draft (DD).
  • DD should be drawn in favor of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai
  • Complete applications should be downloaded and submitted along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, either by speed/Registered post or in person to the following address:

Enclosures:

Photocopies of the following documents should be sent along with the application form and originals should be presented at the time of admission:

  1. 10th Mark Sheet
  2. HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet
  3. Transfer Certificate
  4. Permanent Community Certificate Card for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM
  5. HSC Hall Ticket/ Equivalent Hall Ticket
  6. Nativity Certificate – if applicable
  7. First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration

Application fees for B.Sc.(Hons.) in Agriculture- Self Supporting: INR. 1500/- for all.


Admission Process

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agriculture) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Horticulture Science)

Selection of the candidate to the B.Sc (Agri.) and B.Sc (Horti.) will be done on the basis of the marks scored in the respective qualifying examination (Higher secondary examination).

  • Separate counselling will be held for academic and vocational stream candidates.
  • Candidates will be called for counselling in the order of merit based on the overall rank and community-wise rank list.
  • Candidates have to opt for the programme that is available at the time of counselling.
  • For minimum eligibility, normalized marks will be considered.

A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 200.
In cases where more than one candidate has scored he same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se merit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below.

  • Marks out of 50 in Biology / (Botany + Zoology)
  • Marks out of 50 in Physics
  • Marks out of 50 in Chemistry
  • Date of Birth (elder will be given preference)
  • Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference)

Counselling will be conducted at the Administrative Office, the candidates will be notified about the same through the through the official website.

Counselling Fee: Candidates have to pay a Counselling fee of INR 2000/- (INR 500/- for SC/SCA/ST Candidates) by cash or DD in favour of “The Registrar, Annamalai University” payable at Chennai at the time of counselling.
The counselling fee is not refundable.

Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu
