Annamalai University B.Sc. Agriculture & B.Sc. Horticulture Admissions 2017

Founded in 1929, Annamalai University is the first private university and one of Asia's largest public residential universities located in India. The university is one of the first institutions in the country to offer courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture and arts. A pioneer in imparting quality education, it was taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013 and has emerged as one of the largest public residential university with 10 faculties and 49 departments of study. The university also provides more than 500 courses through distance learning mode.

The university offers the following UG courses in the field of agriculture:

  • B.Sc. Agriculture
  • B.Sc. Horticulture

Only candidates who have completed 10+2 qualifying examination from a recognized university are eligible for admission to these programmes. Admissions to the B.Sc Agricutlture and B.Sc Horticulture programme is done on the basis of the marks scored by the candidate in their respective qualifying examination (Higher secondary examination).

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility can register themselves by filling-in the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC/ST/SCA candidates).

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agriculture) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Horticulture Science)


Candidate should have passed 10+2 with a central/state board of examination which is recognized by the discipline of study of Annamalai University with a bare minimum of aggregate which is as follows:

  • 50% for open category
  • 45% for Backward Class (BC), Backward Class Christians and Backward Class Muslims (BCM)
  • 40% for Most Backward Class, DE Notified Community(DNC)
  • Schedule Caste (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) – Passing marks in qualifying exam with the qualifying subjects

Higher secondary education should include the following subjects for approval:

  • Mathematics or Botany or Biology as the first subject
  • Physics as the second subject
  • Chemistry as the third subject
  • Electives –
  1. Computer Science / Microbiology/ Biotechnology/Biochemistry/ Nursing/ Nutritional Diatetics (if first subject chosen is Mathematics).
  2. Zoology (if first subject chosen is botany)
  3. Biology/ Computer Science /Statistics/ Biochemistry/Home Science (if the first subject is chosen as chemistry)

Note: If the candidate has not chosen the first three subjects or fails to qualify through these three subjects, the aggregate marks of the electives will be taken into consideration.

How to Apply

Candidates can register themselves for the above mentioned courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website and fill the concerned application form to register for the B.Sc. (Agri.)/B.Sc. (Horti.) programmes.
  • Upon filling-in all the relevant details, candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence. Online Application Number is the Registration Number of the Annamalai University B.Sc.(Ag.)/B.Sc.(Horti.) Admissions 2017.
  • Candidate should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC/ST Candidates) through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai
  • Completed applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:

  1. 10th Mark Sheet
  2. HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet

  4. Permanent Community Certificate Card for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM.
  5. HSC Hall Ticket/ Equivalent Hall Ticket
  6. Nativity Certificate – if applicable
  7. First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration
