Annamalai University BE and B.Voc. Admissions 2018

Annamalai University is one of Asia’s top public residential universities providing over 500 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through its 10 faculties such as science, commerce, arts, management etc. and 49 departments of study.

The Faculty of Engineering & Technologyoffers following programmes to its students every year:

  • Bachelor of Engg. (Full-Time / Part-time)
  • B.E (Lateral entry)
  • B. Voc.

Admissions to these programmes is based on the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility can register themselves by filling-in the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC/ST/SCA candidates).

Eligibility Criteria

BE/B.Tech & Bachelors in Vocational Courses

Eligibility for B.E., B.E. (Lateral Entry), B.Voc.   

  • Candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply without native certificate. Those who have completed their schooling from outside Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply with native certificate
  • Children of Central Government Employees are eligible to apply. Sons and Daughters of all India service Tamil Nadu Cadre can also apply
  • Children of employee in public or government sector for the past 5 years are eligible to apply with evidence like income tax return and PF Slip

For B.E. (Full-Time):

Candidate must have passed in HSC or equivalent with minimum required percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as given below:

For B.E (Part-time):

Civil & Structural Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed in diploma of civil and structural engineering conducted by state board of technical education of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 2 years work experience in a recognized organization.

Mechanical Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed in diploma of Mechanical engineering conducted by state board of technical education of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 2 years work experience in a recognized organization.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed in diploma of Electrical and Electronics engineering conducted by state board of technical education of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 2 years work experience in a recognized organization.

Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed in Electrical and Electronics / Electronics and Instrumentation / Electronics and Communication / Computer Science & Engineering / Instrumentation and Control / Electronics Engg. / Information Technology conducted by state board of technical education of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 2 years work experience in a recognized organization

Chemical Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate must pass diploma in Chemical Engineering conducted by state board of technical education of Tamil Nadu or equivalent with 2 years work experience in a recognized organization.

For B.E. (Lateral entry)

  • Candidate must have passed with minimum eligibility marks in one of the diploma in branch of engineering of state board of technical education and training.
  • Candidate must have to possess following minimum eligibility marks to lateral entry programme as follows:

For B.Voc:

Eligibility: Candidate must pass in HSC (Vocational)/ HSC (Academic) from Tamil Nadu state board.


How to Apply

BE/B.Tech & Bachelors in Vocational Courses

Candidates can register themselves for the above mentioned courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website and fill the concerned application form to register for the B.E. (Regular/L.E.) and B.Voc programmes.
  • Upon filling-in all the relevant details, candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence. 
  • Candidate should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC/ST Candidates) through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai. For B.E. (Part-time) & B.Voc programme, registration fee is Rs. 400/- (Rs. 200/- for SC/ST candidates)
  • Completed applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:

Photocopies of the following documents should be sent along with the application form and originals should be presented at the time of admission:

  1. 10th Mark Sheet
  2. HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet
  3. Transfer Certificate
  4. Permanent Community Certificate Card for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM.
  5. HSC Hall Ticket/ Equivalent Hall Ticket
  6. Nativity Certificate – if applicable
  7. First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration


Admission Process

BE/B.Tech & Bachelors in Vocational Courses

For B.E. (Full-Time):

Selection of the candidate will be based on marks obtained in the subjects (mathematics- 100, physics & chemistry- 100) for general category candidates.

In case of equal marks, candidate shall be selected on the basis of percentage in mathematics, physics and fourth optional subject taken together in 10+2.

For B.E. Lateral Entry:

Selection of the candidate will be based on the marks obtained in the final year examination of the qualifying degree

For B.Voc.:

Selection of candidate will be based on the overall marks secured in the qualifying examination

For B.E (Part-Time):

Selection of the candidates will be based on their score in the Entrance Examination and Interview


Reservation Criteria

Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu
