Kerala University (KU) MBA Admission 2019: Courses, Eligibility, Result

University of Kerala offers a day course and an evening course for Maters in Business Administration Degree Programme. Generally, the application process starts from the month of January every year.  The University invites all the application for admission to MBA Progamme for the academic session of 2019-20. There are 40 seats for MBA regular programme.

University of Kerala has two constituent colleges:

  • Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK)
  • University Institute of Management (UIM)

The MBA and MBA evening progammes are available in IMK and UIM respectively. To get admission in University Institute of Management the candidates need to appear for KU-MAT entrance test and Institute of Management in Kerala the candidates need to appear for KU-CAT entrance test. Both the entrances tests are conducted by the University of Kerala. Check KU Admission 2019

Candidates seeking admission in IMK and UIM for MBA Programme will have to appear for entrance tests. The entrances test will for both colleges i.e., IMK and UIM will be conducted by the University of Kerala.

Candidates may also apply online for the MBA and MBA Evening Programme.

Eligibility Criteria


The Candidates should have a valid Bachelors degree or Masters Degree from a recognised University or Institute to get admission in both the colleges, which are Institute of Management in Kerala and University Institute of Management.

The Candidates who are looking forward to get admission in MBA Programme at IMK must have their MAT/CAT /Kerala MAT /GMAT scores.

How to Apply?


Candidates can apply online and offline for entrance examination of MBA programme. Candidates must fill their correct details in the application form carefully.

Candidates applying for entrance examination online are to follow every single rule while filling the form and to attach all the asked documents (like 10th mark sheet, 12th mark sheet, Bachelors Degree and mark sheet, Passport size Photograph) by scanning the documents and upload them in the desired format with the form before submitting it.

Online Application for Entrance Examination of MBA course in Kerala can be submitted through the official website of Kerala MAT.

How to apply for Kerala MAT?

. The application fee for general category is Rs. 800/- and for the SC/ST candidate, Rs. 500/-.

Application for admission to Entrance Examination of MBA course Kerala can be submitted only through online on the official website of Kerala MAT.

There are two stages to submitting the application.

Stage 1: Remitting Application fee online

There are given some following steps to remit application fee

  • Visit Kerala MAT’s official website
  • Click on the link “New Candidate- Remit Application Fee”.
  • Fill all the required details such as Name, Age, Date of Birth(in DD/MM/YYYY format), Mobile Number and E-MailID and complete the online fee payment process. The details entered during online fee payment can not be changed later.
  • You should pay application fee through online only by way of Netbanking/CreditCard/DebitCard facility of any of the banks.

  • You will get a ‘SB Collect Reference Number ’ and a receipt of payment of fee after successful payment of the Application fee online. You should take a printout of the online receipt. SB Collect Reference number is important for later logging into the site to continue with stage 2.

Stage 2: Completing Online Application Submission

You can fill online application after 24 hours of payment of application fee. There are given some points for online application submission.

  • Visit Kerala MAT’s Official website.
  • Click on the link ‘Login-FeeRemittedCandidate’.
  • Login with the help of SB Collect Reference Number and Date of Birth.
  • Click on the button “Browse” and select the photograph file. Then click on the button “Upload’. The photograph will be displayed on the screen after successful uploading. The photograph file must be in jpg format with size less than or equal to 20 KB.
  • Now click on the button “Proceed”. The application form is displayed. Fill in all the details correctly and click on the button ‘Save’ to complete the submission.
  • You can click the button “PRINT” and take a printout of the application.

Note: It is not required to send  the hard copy of the application form.

Admission Process


The following is the selection procedure followed by the University of Kerala for the Admission of MBA Degree Programme: -

  • The candidates are required to appear for the MBA Entrance Test of the University(KU-MAT for UIM and KU CAT 2019 for IMK) at any of the following Centres:
  1. Thiruvananthapuram
  2. Kollam
  3. Alappuzha
  4. Thrissur
  5. Adoor
  • All the candidates who appeared for the entrance examination will be invited to participate in the Group Discussion and Interview. The dates and the venue will be announced later by University of Kerala
  • Rank list for admission to the MBA programme will be finalized on the basis of the score obtained in the Entrance Test (70% weightage), Group Discussion (15% weightage) and Interview (15 % weightage) which will be published in the second week of June.

  • The process of counselling for admission will start on the date that will be announced soon by University of Kerala.
  • Candidates passed degree or Masters Degree of other Universities should produce the Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Kerala (Course Equivalency Certificate) at the time of admission. It is mandatory that the candidate produces eligibility certificate at the time of counselling otherwise the candidate will not be considered for admission.
  • Candidates are required to choose the UIM Centres in order of their preference.
