Annamalai University Pharm.D, M.P.T., M.Sc. (Nursing) Admissions 2018

Founded in 1929, Annamalai University is the first private university and one of Asia's largest public residential universities located in India. The university is one of the first institutions in the country to offer courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture and arts. A pioneer in imparting quality education, it was taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013 and has emerged as one of the largest public residential university with 10 faculties and 49 departments of study. The university also provides more than 500 courses through distance learning mode.The university offers admission to the following programmes:

  • Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy)
  • M.Sc. Nursing
  • Master of Physiotherapy – (M.P.T)

Only the candidates with desired eligibility/qualification can apply for the above mentioned programme through online registration process. Admission of candidates to the above mentioned programmes will be done on the basis of their performance in entrance test and interview, conducted by the university.

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by downloading the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 1000/- to complete the registration process

Eligibility Criteria

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Duration of the programme: 2 years

The university offers MPT in the following disciplines:

  • PT in Orthopaedic Conditions
  • PT in Neurological Conditions
  • PT in Cardio-respiratory Conditions
  • PT in Paediatric Conditions
  • PT in Sports Physiotherapy


Candidate must have acquired the B.P.T. degree of Annamalai University (or) a degree of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto by this University.

M.Sc (Nursing)

Duration of the Programme: 2 years

The university offers M.Sc. Nursing in the following disciplines:

  • Medical Surgical Nursing
  • Paediatric Nursing
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing
  • Community Health Nursing
  • Psychiatric Nursing


  • Candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife of Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council with minimum one year of work experience in a Hospital or in a college or in a school of Nursing or in Community Health Programme
  • The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks from an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council . (For SC/ST candidates minimum of 50% aggregate marks.)
  • Those seeking M.Sc. Nursing admission for specialization in Obstetrical & Gynaecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing shall be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, where as for other specialities the candidate shall be a registered Nurse.


Duration of the Programme: 6 academic years after Higher Secondary


  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 examinations with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects (Mathematics or Biology or Botany and Zoology)
  • Candidate must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy Course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
  • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)

Duration of the Programme: 3 academic years


A pass in B. Pharm. from an institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) [Candidate will enter into IV Year of Six Year Programme].

How to Apply

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) & M.Sc (Nursing)

Candidates can register themselves for the above mentioned courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website and fill the concerned application form to register for the MPT/M.Sc. (Nursing)/Pharm.D. programmes.
  • Upon filling-in all the relevant details, candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence. 
  • Candidate should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 1000/- (For MPT/M.Sc. Nursing programme) and Rs. 600/- (For Pharm.D. courses) through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai.  
  • Completed applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:

Admission Process

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) & M.Sc (Nursing)

For MPT/M.Sc. Nursing programme:

Selection of candidates will be done on the basis of their performance inthe Entrance Examination and Interview, conducted by the university.

For Pharm.D./Pharm.D. (PB) programme:

  • Selection of candidates for Pharm.D. Six years programme will be done on the basis of their qualifying examination merit i.e. higher secondary (10+2) examination merit
  • Selection of candidates for Pharm.D. (PB) programme will be done on the basis of their qualifying examination merit i.e. B.Pharm. degree merit

Reservation Criteria

Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu
