Annamalai University MBBS & BDS Admission 2020: Time Table, Dates, Eligibility

Annamalai University is one of the largest public residential universities established in 1929 which is authorized with A’ grade by NAAC in 2014 having 10 faculties and 49 departments of studies. 19 departments of the university are supported by UGC-SAP, 16 by DST-FIST and 2 have acquired the status of Centre of Advanced Study.

Annamalai University offers the following UG medical/dental programmes to its students every year:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S)
  • Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S)

Admission of candidates to the BDS/MBBS programmes is based on their performance in the qualifying examination. Check Annamalai University Admission 2019

Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by downloading the concerned application form available at the university website. Completed applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 800/- and Rs.400/- to complete the registration process.

How to Apply

Candidates can register themselves for the above mentioned courses through the online application process.

  • Candidate should log on to the official university website and fill the concerned application form to register for the MBBS/ BDS programmes.
  • Upon filling-in all the relevant details, candidate will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence. 
  • Candidate should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 800/- through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai. 
  • Completed applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:

  2. HSC / Equivalent Mark Sheet

  6. Nativity Certificate – if applicable
  7. First Graduate Certificate and First Graduate Joint Declaration

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility of the candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu 

  • Candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply without need of native certificate.
  • Candidates who are from Tamil Nadu but have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply with native certificate.
  • Children of Central Government Employees are also eligible to apply.
  • Sons and Daughters of all India service Tamil Nadu Cadre are also eligible to apply.
  • Children of employee in public or government sector for the past 5 years are also eligible to apply with evidence like income tax return and PF Slip.
  • Candidates who have passed VIII, IX, X, XI and XII from other state of Tamil Nadu are also eligible to apply without need of native certificate.

Age limit eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed 17 years of age or before December 31

Educational qualification eligibility

Candidates who have passed all subjects examination of higher secondary by Tamil Nadu state board in single sitting with eligible minimum marks in the following subjects:

  • Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (OR)
  • Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology with any other subjects.

Minimum eligibility marks in BDS/MBBS:

  • For OC/BC/BCM/MBC and DNC candidates: Students must pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany and Zoology or Mathematics with not less than 50% aggregate marks.
  • For SC/SCA/ST candidates: 40% marks in the above prescribed subjects

Minimum eligibility marks for candidates belonging to Orthopaedically Physically Disabled Category – (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) is as follows:

  • For OC/BC/BCM/MBC and DNC candidates: 45% marks in the above prescribed subjects.
  • For SC/SCA/ST candidates: 40% marks in the above prescribed subjects.

Reservation Criteria

Seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu

Admission Process

Selection of the candidates to MBBS/BDS programme will be done based on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the science subjects in the qualifying examination.

Hi Bharathi, if you belong to reserved category, then, you have higher chances of getting admission in the university. However, if you are from general category, then, your admission cannot be assured.

Hi Vikash, MBBS Course is based on NEET Score as direct admission is not possible.

Hi Abhijeet, admission to MBBS and BDS in the university is based on merit in marks scored in science subjects in the qualifying examination. NEET score is not required.
