VELS University M.Phil. Admissions 2019: Dates, Placement, Result

VELS University, Chennai consists of different schools which offer courses in multiple streams engineering, management studies, physiotherapy, hotel and catering management, mass communication, basic sciences, life sciences etc. The courses offered are approved by AICTE and other reputed bodies such as Pharmacy Council of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapists and Director General of Shipping.

VELS University offers full-time / part-timeM.Phil. programme in the various disciplines. 

For admissions to the M.Phil. programme at Vels University, candidate should possess master’s degree in the subject concerned. Selection of the candidate for the programme will be based on their performance in the entrance exam and interviewCheck VELS University Admission 2019

Candidate can obtain application forms through post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 400/- in favour of "The Registrar, Vels University". Candidate can also download the application forms from the university website or apply online by submitting the processing fee of Rs.350/-.

M.Phil. (Full-time)

Candidate should possess master’s degree in the subject concerned or equivalent degree recognized by the Vels University with at least

  • 55% and 50% marks as per UGC norms and
  • 60% and 55% marks as per AICTE norms respectively

M.Phil. (Part-time)

Candidates should be teachers working in affiliated colleges / Departments of the University/recognized Research Institutions or in Polytechnic approved by the Department of Technical Education or in approved Higher Secondary Schools as well as High Schools under State Board or Central Board.

Candidates who are Education Instructors of Indian Armed Force who possess the above mentioned qualifications shall be eligible for applying to part-time Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) at Vels University.

Application Process

For applying to M.Phil programme of the Vels University, candidate can choose any of the following methods:

  • Candidate can opt for applying online through the official website and the processing fee can be submitted using Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking payment modes
  • Candidate can download application form and prospectus from the university website and send the duly filled-in applications, along with the processing fee of Rs. 350/- through demand draft (DD), to the following address:

  • Candidate can also obtain the form by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the DD of Rs. 400/- to the above mentioned address. DD should  be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Vels University" payable at Chennai
  • Candidate can obtain the application form in person from the Office of Vels University, Chennai upon payment of the processing fee of Rs.350/- in cash


At the time of admission, the candidate must bring the original and photocopies of the following documents:

  1. 3 Passport Size photographs of the candidate
  2. Two self-addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope
  3. Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination or equivalent.
  4. Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
  5. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the Institute last studied.
  6. Community Certificate.
  7. Entrance examination mark sheet.

For Foreign candidates:

Foreign candidates must bring the following documents, original as well as photocopies, at the time of admission:

  • No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi. 
  • Eligibility Certificate from the respective University
  • Appropriate Student Visa

Selection Process

Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Common Entrance Test (CET) and interview to be conducted by the university.


Students from under-privileged and socially handicapped are admitted to the University according to All India Reservation policy.


Scholarships offered:

Candidate can avail scholarship according to the rank scored in the Vels entrance examination and interview conducted.

Hostel Facilities:

For men and women, there are separate hostels within the campus.  

  • Laundry facility is available on chargeable basis.
  • Medical attendant is available.
  • Mess and canteen facility is available.
  • Indoor and outdoor games are offered.
