Manonmaniam Sundaranar University is a premier university of Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1990 with the aim to provide higher education opportunities to students in a variety of streams. There are 24 academic departments in the university which offer Part time, Full-time Post graduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in various disciplines.
The basic requirement for admission to M.Phil. program at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, is a post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline. The University offers admission to M.Phil. programs based on performance in an entrance examination. To appear in the entrance test, a candidate needs to first fill an application form. Candidates seeking admission in M.Phil. must have a postgraduate degree in relevant fields with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate from MSU. Candidates with an equivalent degree issued by any other University and accepted by MSU as equivalent can also apply for M.Phil. program. There is no age limit for candidates applying to the M.Phil. program. A research background at Post-graduate level is desirable but not necessary.
Candidates awaiting their final year examination results may also apply. However, such candidates will have to submit their final year certificates at the time of admission.
The admission process for the M.Phil. programs at MSU starts from May 05. The application form will be available for download on the official website of the University. A candidate is advised to check their eligibility and read the admission booklet carefully before filling the form. The application form must be filled in by the candidate themselves in their own handwriting.
The candidate must also send a demand draft or SBI challan – Power Jothi Scheme (DD& CE A/c. No. 32723644765 drawn in the favor of “The Registrar, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli”, payable at Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu. The draft or challan must be drawn for both Application fee and entrance test fee.
The self-attested Xerox of the following certificates should be sent along with the set of original certificates with the application form(the original certificates will be returned after the verification):

SC/ST candidates are exempted from the payment of Application fee for any one course only.
The merit list for admission to M.Phil. program is prepared on the basis of marks scored in Qualifying examination, i.e. post-graduate degree, and marks scored in the Entrance examination. The entrance examination will have questions from the respective discipline to which a candidate has applied. The questions will be of post-graduate level and will test the knowledge of a candidate in the subject of their choice as also their aptitude for research.

In its bid to promote diversity at the university as also to provide equal opportunity of education, the university has reserved certain percentage of seats in M.Phil. program for different categories. The category-wise seat reservation is given below:
