Thiruvallavur University was established in 2002 in a bid to promote higher education in the state of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvallavur University offers MA and M.Sc. in its post-graduate academic curriculum. The PG programs cover a wide variety of disciplines in the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams.
Candidates with an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline are eligible to apply for the MA and M.Sc. courses. The University follows the reservation policy prescribed by Tamil Nadu government.
The admission process for PG programs at Thiruvalluvar University starts in the month of June each year. The application form can be downloaded from the University website. The merit list for admission to the Master’s programme is prepared on the basis of marks scored in Qualifying Examination and Entrance Examination held by the University.
The Application process for PG courses begin in the month of June. The last date for submitting correctly filled in application form to the University is June 25.

The application fee is 100 INR for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. This amount should be remitted through NEFT or RTGS mode in the Indian Overseas Bank. The essential eligibility for admission to PG courses is that a candidate must hold an undergraduate degree, preferably from Thiruvalluvar University. There is no age limit for applying to PG courses at Thiruvalluvar University.
Candidates who have passed a three year degree course under the 10+1+3 or 10+2+2 or 11+1+2 pattern of examination are not eligible to apply for PG courses at Thiruvalluvar Univesrity.
Thiruvalluvar University offers MA degree in an array of subjects. The list of subjects available in MA degree course along with their eligibility is given below:
An undergraduate degree in Tamil from Thiruvalluvar University
Or an undergraduate degree in any stream with Tamil as a subject in part II with a minimum of 55% marks
Or any other equivalent degree accepted by Thiruvalluvar University
A BA degree examination in English from Thiruvalluvar University
Or A B.Sc. degree with English as a subject in Part II
Or B.Com./BBA/BCA/BCS and any other such degree with one year part II English where the candidate has scored a minimum of 55% marks
Or any other degree which ia accepted by Thiruvalluvar University as equivalent to the degrees mentioned above.
A BA degree in Economics/ Corporate Economics/Business Economics
Or B.Com./B.Sc. Mathematics/B.Sc. Statistics/BBA
Or any other degree accepted as equivalent by Thiruvalluvar Univesrity
The Thiruvalluvar University recognizes the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The list of reserved categories and the corresponding percentage of seat reservation is given below:

Note: Any candidate from states other than Tamil Nadu shall be considered under Open Competition except those belonging to the SC/ST category.
The University takes admission to its PG courses on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying examination as well as performance in Entrance Examination conducted by University. The Entrance examinations will be conducted in the respective departments of the courses to which the candidate has applied for at the Thiruvalluvar University, Serkkadu, Vellore-115. The respective weightage given to qualifying examination and entrance examination is 50%.
The syllabus for entrance test for PG courses will be the same as the undergraduate syllabus for the subject applied at Thiruvalluvar University. The number of seats available at each department and their selection procedure is based on the Reservation policy as upheld by the government of Tamil Nadu.
