The Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) is a State university situated at Navanagar, Karnataka. The university offers various graduate and post graduate law courses which include LLB, B.A., LL.B., B.B.A., LL.B. and B.B.A., LL.B., (Hon’s) Double Degree integrated courses and LL.M. programme. Nearly 92 law colleges of Karnataka are affiliated to it.

The University invites applications for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the academic year 2017-18. The Applications can be obtained either directly or online. The LLB (Bachelor of Law) course is a three year course and the BA/BBA LLB courses are five year courses. LLM (Master of Law) is a one year course. The Applications are issued from May 4th. An Eligibility Certificate is needed if applied from outside Karnataka.

Eligibility Criteria

LLB

Eligibility

You should have graduated in any discipline of knowledge from an Open or Deemed recognised or established under the UGC Act, after having studied in the pattern of 10+2 at Secondary/Higher Secondary Schooling.

You should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in case of general category applicants and 40% marks in case of SC and ST applicants. 

Age: You should be less than 30 years in case of general category and 35 years in the case of SC, ST and other backward communities as on 1st June.

Eligibility

You should have successfully completed the 10+2 examination or equivalent such as (11+1, 'A' level in Senior School Leaving Certificate course) from a recognised University of India or outside or from Senior Secondary Board or equivalent.

You should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the same in case of general category applicants and 40% marks in case of SC and ST applicants. 

Age: You should be less than 20 years in case of general category and 22 years in the case of SC, ST and other backward communities as on 1st June.

Note: If you have obtained +2 Higher Secondary Pass Certificate or First Degree Certificate after prosecuting studies in distance or correspondence method, then also you shall be considered as eligible for admission to the course.

LLM

The University offers LLM Programme in the following specialisations:

  • Constitutional Law
  • Intellectual Property Rights
  • Business and Trade Law
  • Criminal Law and International Law

 

Eligibility

You should have graduated in law from a University established by an Act of Parliament or by a State Legislature or an equivalent national institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an authority competent to declare equivalence

You should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the same in case of general category applicants and 40% marks in case of SC and ST applicants.

Application Process

You can obtain the Application Form in two ways:

  • Directly from the Office i.e., Karnataka State Law University, Navanagar, Hubli-580025. Karnataka, India
  • Download from the website.

 Application Fee

Pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1000 for general category and Rs. 500 for SC/ST category as either through a Demand Draft in favour of The Finance Officer, Karnataka State Law University, Navangar, Hubli – 590025; or through a Challan from any branch of the State bank of India/ a valid Credit Card/ Debit Card or Net Banking facility.

Fill the form with the necessary details. Affix photograph and enclose the following attested copies:

  1. Demand draft/Challan From for the programme fee.
  2. Caste/Tribe/Community/Disability Certificate in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH.
  3. SSLC/SSC/X Class Certificate/Marks Card containing Date of birth.
  4. PUC 2nd year/HSC and Degree Qualification Examination marks card.
  5. 5 recent stamp size photographs along with application.
  6. Acknowledgment Card duly stamped.
  7. Income certificate, if fee concession is claimed.
  8. Eligibility certificate, if needed.
  9. Migration certificate, if needed.

Note: For those outside Karnataka and Foreigners:

You should apply for the Eligibility Certificates to the KSLU with necessary original documents in the prescribed form by post or in person by paying necessary fees (Rs. 2200 for Indian Students and Rs. 11,000 for Foreign students), to the office of K.S.L.U., Hubballi along with all original marks cards of 10th, 12th Std & U.G/P.G. Degree's, as applicable along with transcripts issued by the concerned University or Board or Department.

Selection Process

You will be selected on the basis of merit. You should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination in case of general category applicants and 40% marks in case of SC and ST applicants. 


Reservation

The reservation criteria is based on the policy of Government of Karnataka governing admission to higher educational institutions.
