Bangalore University MBA and MCA Admissions 2017

Bangalore University  offers admission in MBA & MCA program in both day & evening mode on supernumerary seats. Students can obtain the application form from Canara Bank School of management Studies for MBA & for MCA from respective departments. Apart from National level exam the university also takes admission through PGCET entrance exams. It is for those who have not appeared in national entrance exam, they have to qualify PGCET. The exam is scheduled to be conducted in the month of July. Students are advised to check the bifurcation of available seats as given below:

Eligibility Criteria



  • The candidate shall have passed Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% of marks with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science / Computer Programming/ Computer Applications / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics as one of the Optional or Electives at Degree level. Provided further that, in respect of a candidate who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the First provision in the Pre – University course with 50% of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission.
  • For lateral entry of MCA, candidate who has passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years duration examination in BCA, B. Sc (I.T. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is eligible for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka candidates)

No Part Time courses are offered for MCA.


MBA (regular mode):

A Candidate who has passed Bachelor Degree examination with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in all the three years of Degree examination.

MBA (Evening mode):

  • A Graduate Degree under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 pattern under any discipline securing at least 50% marks in aggregate including languages from a recognized University.
  • Honours Degree through 0+2+4 pattern from a recognized University under UGC Act having at-least 50% marks in aggregate including languages.
  • Candidates who have passed Bachelor / Master Degree through Correspondence / Open University system from this University or from any other University recognized by law are exempted from 10+2 pattern. The duration of the Degrees must be 3 years / 2 years respectively.
  • Candidates who pass Bachelor / Master degree in any University system in single sitting pattern are not eligible.
  • After graduation, a minimum of 2 year experience as full-time supervisory in any organization with a turnover of minimum Three million and employing not less than 50 employees. However in the case of a teacher working in the university or affiliated colleges, two years of full time teaching experience is essential.
  • In case of non-teaching (full time regular) employees of Bangalore University, a minimum of 5 years’ experience is necessary.

Application Process


Step 1: Enter all the details through Online by browsing URL on web by selecting "PGCET 2017". After completion of all the details candidates will receive an application ID and Password to their registered email address.

Step 2: Upload the scanned copy of the recent passport size Colour Photo and Signature in .JPEG format separately.

Step 3: Download and take the printout of the Challan copy which is the triplicate. Candidates of Karnataka origin have to pay an amount of INR 500/- for General / OBC & INR 250/- for SC/ST. The candidates have to pay the requisite fee in any of the branches of specified Banks. The Bank will retain its copy of the Challan and handover the remaining the two copies if the Challan to the candidates.

Step 4: Download and take printout of the application form on A Size paper. Affix candidate’s recent passport size photograph, Signature, Left hand Thumb Impression on the space provided. Afterwards obtain Principal seal and signature from the college where you have studied final year degree examination on the space provided in the printed form. The same copy should be produced during document verification along with the copy of Challan (KEA Copy).

Mode of Payment

Candidates need to pay an application fee of Rs.500/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.250/- for CAT-1/SC/ST through DD in favor of Finance officer, Bangalore University, Bangalore.

Caste/Caste Income CertificateCandidates seeking reservation benefit should produce a Caste Certificate in Form ‘D’ in case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes; in Form ‘E’ in case of Category -1; a Caste Income Certificate in Form ‘F’ for Other Backward Classes such as 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar, in accordance with the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2000 dated 30th March 2002, as amended from time to time. Validity period of Caste / Income Certificate are as per the Circular No. SWD155BCA2012.
Qualifying Degree Marks CardQualifying degree marks cards.
Study CertificateStudy Certificate to show that the candidate has studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years from 1st standard to 12th standard or qualifying examination issued by the Head of the institution. Further, School study certificates should be countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO)/Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) compulsorily. Rural Study CertificateCandidates who claim a seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be Countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO).
Kannada Medium CertificateCandidates claiming the benefit of Kannada Medium reservation Should produce a certificate for having studied for 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the Head of the educational institution and such certificate should be countersigned by the respective BEO or Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI).

Selection Process


In accordance with Admission Rules, preference will be given to Bangalore University students with domicile. Even after filling up of these seats, if the seats are vacant, second preference will be given to the students who have graduated from Bangalore University but who are not of Karnataka domicile. If the seats are still not filled, then the third preference will be given to students belonging to Karnataka and from Universities within Karnataka and last preference will be given to outside Karnataka students. Any unfilled seats will be frozen.



Relaxation Schedule:

Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: Relaxation of 5% in minimum marks is required for admission to P.G Courses for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Category –I students of “Karnataka Students” is permitted.

Remission to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: A remission of remission up to 5% in minimum marks required for eligibility to apply for admission to any course offered in the University is allowed in case of SC/ST/Cat-I candidates of Karnataka State only, provided that this relaxation is necessary to fill the quota of reservation when candidates with higher percentage of marks are not available in this category.


Seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Category 1, II A, II B, III A, and III B as per the Government Order No. SWD 150 BCA dated 17th September 1994. The extent of percentage of reservation of these various categories is as follows:
