Bangalore University Ph.D. Admission 2017

Bangalore University invites applications for Ph.D. Programmes. Candidates desirous for admission may collect the application form from sales unit of  Central College Campus, Bangalore University or by downloading the application form and prospectus from the website of the university. The application form will be available on the website from September 15, 2017 (tentative).

The last date to submit the completed application forms is October 11, 2017 (tentative).

The Candidates will have to appear for an Entrance Examination conducted by the university. The Entrance Examination will be on  November 13, 2017 (tentative).

Candidates who have their scores of the qualifying examination(UGC/UGC-CSIRJRFTest/NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE/ Recognised young researchers by DST, UGC, CSIR, AICTE, etc./ obtained M.Phil. degree through regular course work) will be evaluated on the basis of their score.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

Candidates who have obtained any Master's Degree from a recognized University or institute securing minimum 55% marks is eligible to apply for the PhD Degree Programme.

In case of SC/ST/Cat-I/Differently abled candidates the minimum marks is 50% to be eligible to apply for Ph.D. Degree.


Application Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

  1. To download Application form candidates must visit the university website.
  2. The candidates must fill the forms as directed and submit the forms before or on 11th October, 2014.
  3. The candidates must upload a recent passport size photograph and a valid e-mail address for successful registration.
  4. The candidates are required to upload the fee paid challan of bank. The hall ticket for entrance examination will only issued to those who have uploaded the Bank challan.
  5. The candidates who will be taking admission through entrance examination will have to pay online Rs. 2000/- and the candidates who will not be appearing for the entrance examination will have to pay Rs.1500/-, while submitting the application form.
  6. After the application forms are submitted online, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidate. E-mail will contain the user name and password and other instructions to further proceed with the completion of registration process.
  7. The candidates shall download two sets of duly filled in Application Form and retain one set for his/her reference and one set to be sent to The Registrar (Evaluation), Pareeksha Bhavan, Jnanabharathi Campus, Bangalore University, Bangalore – 560 056.
  8. The application forms which are incomplete/ineligible and received after the last date will automatically stand rejected and no communication regarding the same will be made to the candidates.
  9. The Hall tickets of the eligible candidates must be downloaded between 18.11.2016 to 23.11.2016 by entering their date of birth or mobile number.

Selection Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

The candidates who will be appearing for the entrance examination will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the examination. After the examination result is declared, there will be a announcement for the provisional list of the qualified candidates who are eligible for further process. The who have their UGC/UGC-CSIRJRFTest/NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE scores will be evaluates on the basis for the scores of the qualifying examination.


Reservation

Relaxation Schedule:

Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: Relaxation of 5% in minimum marks is required for admission to P.G Courses for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Category –I students of “Karnataka Students” is permitted.

Remission to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: A remission of remission up to 5% in minimum marks required for eligibility to apply for admission to any course offered in the University is allowed in case of SC/ST/Cat-I candidates of Karnataka State only, provided that this relaxation is necessary to fill the quota of reservation when candidates with higher percentage of marks are not available in this category.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

Seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Category 1, II A, II B, III A, and III B as per the Government Order No. SWD 150 BCA dated 17th September 1994. The extent of percentage of reservation of these various categories is as follows:
