Bangalore University offers a two-year-long postgraduate ME Programme, which is carried out in one of the constituent colleges of Bangalore University popularly known as “University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering”. The university offers Twenty Two courses in the ME engineering program. There are 320 AICTE sanctioned seats for the ME Programme.

The university offers M.Arch. for a duration of 2 years. The program is taught in the above-mentioned college. There are 36 AICTE sanctioned seats for the M.Arch. Program.

You shall be selected on the basis of the rank allotted to you after appearing in the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations. GATE qualified candidates will be given preference.

Application Fee: INR. 650/- (500/- for SC/ST)

The entrance test will comprise of 75 objective questions of 100 marks.

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility Criteria: 

  • The candidate must possess a valid GATE score.
  • One who has passed the qualifying examination or equivalent with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects of all the years/semesters of the Degree Examination.
  • For SC/ST students you need to have 45%aggregate in all the semesters/Years of Undergraduate Examination conducted by a UGC/AIU approved university.

Master of Engineering (ME): It is a two-year postgraduate program offered by Bangalore University in twenty-two different streams of engineering. The total number of AICTE approved seats are 320. Selection will be done on the basis of the rank allotted after appearing in the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations.

Master of Architecture (M.Arch): Bangalore University offers M.Arch programs in the following disciplines:

  • M.Arch Construction and Project Management
  • M.Arch Landscape Architecture

The total number of AICTE approved seats are 36. You shall be selected on the basis of the rank allotted to you after appearing in the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations.

Note: Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks but also a candidate who is appearing for the Q. E. and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test.

Selection Process

Candidates with a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Exam) score shall be given preference during admission.

GATE qualified candidates are exempted from the PGCET.

The aggregate percentage of marks of the course of the qualifying examination shall be calculated as follows-

Aggregate Percentage of Marks =The sum of the marks scored by the candidate in all the subjects of all the examinations/semesters X 100
The sum of all the maximum marks of all the subjects of all the years/semesters

Based on the performance of the candidates in the Post Graduate Common Entrance Test, the rank list will be prepared and published for admission to MBA/MCA/ME/M.Tech/M.Arch. courses.

Therefore, the candidates are advised to attend the counseling only if they have the requisite percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. (i.e., should have obtained 50% of aggregate marks of all the years of the Degree examination, 45% of aggregate marks of all the years in the Degree Examination in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, and Category-I of Karnataka Candidates).

The PGCET will be held in two sessions separately for Type-A and Type-B of ME/M.Tech/M.Arch. courses.

KEA will be conducting an online counseling session for the shortlisted candidates followed by the seat allotment process.

  • Degree Certificate
  • Caste Certificate
  • Income Certificate

The following Original and photocopies must be submitted during the verification process:

  • Final print out of the 2020 Online Application Form.
  • Proof for having paid the fees.
  • PGCET 2020 Admission Ticket
  • SSLC/10th Standard/Equivalent Examination Marks Card
  • 2nd PUC/12th Standard/ Equivalent Examination Marks Card
  • Qualifying Degree Marks Cards of all the Years/Semesters.

The candidate should compulsorily bring all necessary original documents in support of their claim when they come for verification without fail.

Application Process

M.E./M.Arch. aspirants must appear for the PGCET entrance exam. To apply for the same, the applicants must visit the official website of the Karnataka Examination Authority.

  • The candidates must visit the website and select PGCET” to access the online application form.
  • Fill up the requisite details.
  • Upload the scanned copy of recent passport size color photo and signature in JPEG format.
  • Download and print out the bank Challan form and fill the fees accordingly from any of the branches of the specified banks.

Based on the information furnished by the candidate in the application, the examination center will be assigned by KEA.

Note: The candidates need to produce the application form print out at the time of verification along with the bank Challan form.

If one has a valid GATE Scorecard, s/he need not appear in the “PGCET” exam.


­­Reservation Policy: There are two types of reservation policy under PGCET for admission to ME and M.Arch courses.

Reservation for Physically Disabled Special Category: Any candidate who has 40% or more physical disability is eligible for the reservation under this category.

Reservation for Reserved category Students: This type of reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Candidates. One needs to produce a Caste Certificate as well as an Income Certificate issued by concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar.
The annual income limit is INR. 6 lakhs per annum for claiming reservation benefits. 70% of seats are reserved for local candidates of Karnataka.
