KVAFSU PG Admissions 2020: Courses, Application form, Eligibility

Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) is an autonomous education institution which was established exclusively for the development of education and learning; conduct of research and extension education and transfer the rural oriented technologies in the areas of Veterinary, Animal, Dairy and Fisheries Sciences in Karnataka. The University offers post graduate and doctoral degree programmes in the faculty of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries Sciences.

KVAFSU invites applications for admission to the postgraduate course for the academic year. The courses include Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) – available at Veterinary College at both Bidar and Bangalore, Master of Fisheries Science (M.F.Sc.)-available at College of Fisheries, Mangalore, and Master of Technology (Doctor of Technology) (M.Tech. D. Tech.) - available at Dairy Science College, Bangalore.

 All courses are for a duration of 2 years i.e., four semesters. The admission for the courses are through a written test organised by the University. Check KVAFSU Admission

How to apply?

You can download the Application Form along with the prospectus from the University website.

Fill in the form with the necessary details. Application Fee of Rs. 600 for general category applicants and Rs. 300 for SC/ST/Cat -1 applicants in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Comptroller, KVAFSU, Bidar has to be paid along with the application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You should possess a Bachelor degree in the respective subject from a recognized University / institute on or before the due date mentioned.
  • You should have 6.00/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks for general category and 5.50/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates at bachelor degree level.
  • Nationality: You should be a citizen of India and must have studied in any educational institution in Karnataka State for a period of seven academic years at any time up to the Bachelor degree as on 1st July of the admission year. [Not applicable if you are a Govt. of Karnataka, Govt. of India, ICAR nominees, NRIs and Foreign Nationals (FN)]. However, if vacancies are left in a particular subject then the domicile requirement of 7 years could be relaxed to outside Sate candidates.

Reservation Criteria

  • The seats shall be reserved in accordance with the existing reservation policy of Govt. of Karnataka.
  • Provision is also made for admission on payment of institutional economic fees for Foreign National/ Children of NRI.
  • One seat in each department for Master’s degree notified above is reserved for candidates sponsored by GOK, GOI, State Veterinary / Agricultural Universities.

Selection Process

Your selection will be done on the basis of your performance in bachelor degree programme and written test conducted by the University.

Written Test: It will be of undergraduate level and will contain 100 objective type questions with four responses. You will be given due weightage if you have won medals in academics, sports and cultural activities, passed in ICAR/JRF examinations and if are Physically handicapped / Anglo-Indians / Scouts & Guides / Children of Ex-Servicemen / Defence personnel.

The scheme of evaluation is as follows. You should be able to secure at least 50% of the total marks:
