IIST M.Tech Admissions 2019: Eligibility, Cut Off, Placement, Fees

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram is a government-aided institute and deemed university for the study and research of space science. The institute offers Master of Technology (M.Tech.) programme at postgraduate level in various disciplinesevery year.

Candidates who seek admission to M.Tech. programme should register through the online application process from the official IIST website and pay the required processing fee through the generated challan.Applications submitted online only will be considered for processing under any circumstances.

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for written test and interview for admission to M.Tech. programme. Final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the entrance test and interview. Check IIST Admission 2019

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech programme


Master of Technology (M.Tech.)

The university offers M.Tech. programme in the following disciplines:

  • RF and Microwave Engineering
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • VLSI and Microsystems
  • Control Systems
  • Earth System Sciences

  • Machine Learning and Computing
  • Materials Science and Technology
  • Optical Engineering
  • Solid State Technology


  • Candidate must possess BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.S. or equivalent degree mentioned with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 out of 10
  • Candidate should also possess a valid score in GATE/JEST/UGC NET in relevant area
  • Candidate should be an Indian citizen and 28 years as on May 8, 2019 (tentative). Age relaxation is applicable to SC / ST / PWD category as per Government of India Order
  • Candidates in the final year of their qualifying degree are also eligible to apply provided they produce the consolidated marklist /marklists of all semesters along with Degree Certificate on or before October 31, 2019 (tentative)

How to Apply


Candidates should register for admission only through on-line application process through the official university website. Only the applications received online will be considered for further processing

  • Eligible candidates who wish to apply for more than one programme should submit separate application for each programme along with the application fee
  • Application fee is Rs.600/- per department (Rs. 300/- per department for SC, ST, PWD and women candidates). The application fee is non-refundable
  • Upon successful submission of all the details, candidates should download and take the print-out of the generated “Bank Challan” for remitting the required application fee
  • Candidates should submit the processing fee in the bank with the help of Challan and obtain the transaction details
  • Candidates should submit the bank transaction details using their login and upload the receipt of bank challan for completing the registration process

Admission Process


Candidates will be shortlisted for M. Tech. programmes on the basis of their performance in Written Test/ Interview to be conducted at IIST Thiruvananthapuram

List of shortlisted candidates will be uploaded on the IIST website. Shortlisted candidates will be required to download the call letter from the website.

Reservation Criteria

Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates is applicable as per Govt. of India Orders

Important Notes

  • While applying online, category candidates should upload the relevant (SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Persons with Disabilities -PWD) certificate
  • Candidates will not be allowed to make any changes in the profile registration once submitted. Hence, candidate should check all the entries carefully before submitting the application
  • Candidates who are employed in Government/Semi Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must produce a “No Objection Certificate (NOC)” at the time of Interview
  • All the candidates must bring the challan copy for the respective courses at the time of the interview as proof
  • Students who are unable to submit their qualifying degree certificate before October 31, 2019 (tentative) shall be disqualified and will not be allowed to continue their studies at IIST any further
  • Upon submission of the degree certificates on or before the specified date, scholarship will be paid with effect from the date of commencement of classes or from the date of admission to the programme, whichever is later. Selected candidates will be given scholarship as per AICTE norms
  • M.Tech. students will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when required
