Azim Premji University was established as a not-for-profit, private autonomous university in the state of Karnataka by the Azim Premji Foundation.

Azim Premji University invites applications for admission to the undergraduate programs for the academic year 2020-21. The courses offered are a B.A. Degree  (Humanities and Economics) and B.Sc. Degree (Physics, Biology and Mathematics) for a duration of three years. The selection will be based on SAT score/Written Test followed by an Interview. Last Date to apply is November 22.

Application Fees: INR. 500/-

The application fee must be submitted through SBI collect or Demand Draft.

Application Process

Candidates can obtain the Application Form from the website under the “Admissions” tab. They can submit the Application through the online mode and offline mode.

Online Mode:

  • To apply online, the candidate must visit the university’s official website.
  • Login through the link available.
  • Register online with e-mail ID, mobile number and date of birth.
  • On successful registration, an email will be sent to the registered e-mail ID along with login credentials.
  • Proceed to fill up the application form and submit it online.
  • For the online mode, the fees can be submitted through debit/credit card or through net banking at PayU.

Offline Mode:

  • One can download the application form from the university’s website.
  • The details must be hand-written.
  • The application and the Demand Draft drawn in favor of the Azim Premji Foundation for Development along with the photographs must be mailed to the following address-

The application fees of INR. 500/- is to be submitted in favor of the Azim Premji Foundation, either through PayU or through Demand Draft.

Eligibility Criteria

The University offers the following majors in the BA programme:

  • Humanities (combined History, Literature, and Philosophy)
  • Economics

B.Sc. Programme

The University offers the following majors in the B.Sc. programme:

  • Physics
  • Biology
  • Mathematics


  • One should have a Class 12 or Pre University certificate from any recognized Indian Board or any valid international certificate equivalent to Class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks
  • Candidates appearing for their final examinations can also apply

Age: One should not be older than 19 years of age.

SAT scores are also accepted as a shortlisting criterion for the Undergraduate programme.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on SAT score/Written Test and an Interview (if shortlisted).

The Written Test (National Entrance Test) will assess one’s English language and quantitative capacities. If shortlisted on the basis of one’s performance in the written test, the applicant will be called for the Personal Interview.

There will be negative marking in the English language and the Quantitative Reasoning sections. For each correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 2 marks and zero marks on no attempt. 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. The call letters for the same will be made available on the official website.
