Anna University Distance Education MBA and MCA Admissions 2018

Anna University, Chennai is a  UGC recognized technical university in the state of Tamil Nadu. It offers 31 undergraduate courses, 64 post-graduate courses and 3 research courses. The university invites application forms from eligible candidates for admission to MBA and MCA programs offered by university’s Centre for distance education (CDE)

The basic minimum eligibility for admission to both the courses is graduate. For MBA program, one should just be a graduate from a recognized university irrespective of the discipline whereas for MCA program, one should be a graduate in the related or allied field.

The application form is common for both the courses, candidates may choose to apply online or can even apply offline. The offline application form and the prospectus can be obtained from the CDE. 

The university conducts DISTANCE EDUCATION ENTRANCE TEST (DEET) for admissions to MBA and MCA programmes. You can find more info on DEET in the selection process for anna university distance education admissions in this article.

Duration of the MBA and MCA programmes are 2 years (4 semesters) and 3 years (6 semesters) respectively.

Last date for submission of completed application form is February 10, 2018 (tentative) and the exam will be held on February 21, 2018 (tentative) from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must be a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Candidate must be a pass in Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) conducted by the CDE, Anna University, Chennai or the candidate must have a valid TANCET score card.
  • The Bachelor's Degree must have been obtained after 10+2 or equivalent.

Eligibility of AMIE Candidates: Candidates with AMIE or similar qualification awarded by Professional Institutes approved by MHRD are also eligible for admission to MBA/MCA Degree Program, if they have two years of experience after obtaining AMIE or similar Degree. A pass in Entrance Test (DEET) conducted by the CDE, Anna University, Chennai-25 is mandatory.

Eligibility of TANCET Candidates: Candidates who have written the TANCET are also eligible for admission to distance mode; TANCET score is valid for one year from the date of Exam otherwise candidate have to appear for DEET for admission

MCA

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at the degree level or Mathematics at HSC level; and
  • Candidate must be a pass in Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) conducted by the CDE, Anna University, Chennai or the candidate must have a valid TANCET score card.
  • The bachelor's degree must have been obtained after +2 or equivalent.

Application Process

MBA/PGDM & MCA

The application form and prospectus can be downloaded from the official website of Centre for Distance Education (CDE) www.annauniv.edu/cde

Printed Application Form can be obtained in person from the Centre for Distance Education, Anna University, Chennai -600025

The cost of application form is Rs.650/- payable in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of the “The Director, Centre for Distance Education, Anna University, Chennai-600025” payable at Chennai

Application form can also be obtained in person from the following Study Centres located outside Chennai on payment of Rs.650/- in cash

Application form can also be downloaded from the website of the Centre. In such cases the candidates should enclose a Demand Draft of Rs.650/- along with the completed application.

Documents Required

  • The Xerox of the following certificates are to be enclosed with the application (Originals should not be enclosed)
  • SSLC or its equivalent
  • HSC or its equivalent
  • Diploma Certificate – (if applicable)
  • Degree Certificate (or) Provisional Certificate
  • Mark Sheets of all semesters / Years of the Bachelor Degree Examinations based on which admission is sought.
  • Transfer and Conduct Certificate from the

  • AMIE or similar Certificate – (if applicable)
  • Experience Certificate(for those with AMIE or similar qualification)
  • TANCET Mark Sheet(if applicable)
  • Photograph Card(Photograph should be affixed and the candidate should sign at the appropriate place

Selection Process

MBA/PGDM & MCA

Anna University conducts DISTANCE EDUCATION ENTRANCE TEST (DEET) for admissions to MBA and MCA programmes.

Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) is conducted twice in a year, i.e. Academic Year (AY) Batch and Calendar Year (CY) Batch. DEET scores are valid for one year only.

Separate Entrance Tests will be conducted for admission to MBA and MCA Degree Programmes.

  • Candidate is required to answer 100 objective type questions in 2 hours.
  • Each question would be followed by 4 choices.
  • 1 mark – correct answer. No negative marking.
  • You will have to choose the correct answer and shade the appropriate circle against the question in the OMR sheet.
  • You would be either using a pencil or a ball point pen (blue or black) to do so.

Candidates who are provisionally eligible for admission will be informed through counselling call letter which is based on their rank obtained in the DEET/TANCET.

Candidates or their authorized representative should attend the counselling with all original certificates with Demand Draft towards 1st semester fee.

Selection is based on the marks in the Entrance Test (DEET score) / TANCET score card.  Based on the rank Study Centre/Specialization will be provisionally allotted through counselling as per their choice.

DEET Syllabus – MBA

Distance Entrance Exam Test (DEET) has different parameters for MBA and MCA entrances, which are structured in a way which helps in efficient screening of the candidates. The syllabus of the exam is discussed below:

The question paper would be designed to test the capability of the candidates in the following areas:

  • Data Analysis
  • Comprehension Skills
  • Basic Quantitative Ability
  • Written English

DEET Syllabus - MCA

  • Quantitative Ability
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Computer Awareness
  • Verbal Activity, Basic Science etc.


Notes

Candidates admitted to MBA/MCA/M.Sc. Programmes of Distance Education are not eligible for any scholarship or fee concession from Anna University.

 Differently abled persons are exempted from payment of tuition fee for which they have to produce a certificate from the Chairman, District Medical Board in the prescribed form which can either be obtained from the office of the CDE or downloaded from the Centre’s website.
