Kuvempu University Ph.D Admissions 2019: Time Table, Result, Fees

Kuvempu University is a UGC affiliated institution which offers various post-graduate and doctorate programs under the departments of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law. Kuvempu University offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in multiple subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry, Political Science, Social Science and languages such as Kannada, Hindi, English and Urdu.

Doctoral admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in PG degree and entrance test. Upon successfully passing the test, the candidate should present the outline of their research work to the Chairperson of the concerned department. Once, the research course work is cleared by the Chairperson of the Board of Studies, the student can fill the final application in order to confirm their registration under the Ph.D. course of this university

Eligibility Criteria

Ph.D. (English) , Ph.D. (Hindi) & Ph.D. (Sanskrit)

  • Candidate should possess Post Graduate degree from recognized institution in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks. For SC/ST and Category 1 candidates, minimum aggregate for eligibility are 50% from a recognized institution
  • Candidate must secure minimum 40% marks in the university entrance test for admission to the Ph.D. programme. For SC/ST candidates, minimum required aggregate is 35%
  • Students will be shortlisted for next level of admission process after considering 50% marks from PG Degree and 50% marks scored in the entrance exam

Note: Category 1 students include:

  1. Foreign and sponsored candidates
  2. Teachers on FIP/QIP
  3. JRF and fellowship students
  4. Students who have completed Eligibility Test for Leadership through the accredited State or National Agency

How to Apply

  • Candidates can register by downloading the application forms available at the official university website 
  • Duly filled-in applications, along with the fee of Rs. 960/- (Rs. 720/- in case of SC/ST/Category 1 candidates) and educational qualification certificates, must be submitted to the Chairperson of the concerned Department.
  • Fee must be submitted through demand draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Finance Officer, Kuvempu University, Shankaraghatta”
  • Candidates should submit the following original documents to the university at the time of final admission:
  1. Marksheets and Certificates of 10th and 12th standard.
  2. Certificate of graduation and post-graduation degree.
  3. Proof of work experience
  4. Caste certificate of SC/ST

Admission Process

Selection procedure of the candidates for Ph.D. programme of the university is a 3-application process as explained below:

  • Application A: Initially, candidate must submit completed applications for appear for the university entrance exam. If passed, they will be intimated for submitting the next application.
  • Application B: Upon successfully passing the entrance exam, students must submit another application along with their Research Outline to the Chairperson of the concerned department. Once, the Research Outline is approved by the Chairperson of Board of Studies, students can apply for provisional Registration which shall be completed with the payment of requisite fee.
  • Application C: Students shall submit the final application to the Chairperson for their confirmation of Registration for the university Ph.D. programme.
