Manipal University (MU) PG Admission 2020: Eligibility, Entrance Exam, Admission Process

Manipal University provides different post-graduation programmes for which they have different mode to select candidates. Selection to courses is made through entrance test, Interview, Group discussion and marks scored in the qualifying exams depending on the course.

The date for submission of application form and commencement of classes are varying according to the courses. Application for these programmes can be made through online mode for which candidates are required to visit the University website and are required to keep a scan copy of photograph and signature.
Application form fee is different for Indian nationals and internationals candidates which can be done through Net banking/Credit card/Debit card.

Few courses have some special privileges for candidates, in such cases, candidates are required to present relevant documents along with the application form. Manipal University also provides financial aid and scholarship to deserving candidates for which, they have different criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate (PG) / Super Specialty (SS) should have obtained their qualifications from a recognized Board / University. For PG programs, the candidates MUST have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration from a recognized University as per program requirement. 

Candidates with foreign qualifications must submit equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, as per program requirements.

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Masters in Physiotherapy is provided by the School of Allied Health Science in different specializations.

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have done Bachelor in Physiotherapy from a recognised University with at least 50% marks.

NOTE: Those candidates who want to study MPT in Sports and Clinical Biomechanics are required to score at least 50% marks in BPT and IELTS score band of 7 to be eligible for the Master's programme.

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have done a B.Sc. course in the same specialisation in which they want to pursue an M.Sc. programme.

Duration: 3 Years (The duration of MD and MS course is 2 years for those with 2 years recognized diploma in the same specialty).

Eligibility: Pass in MBBS degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

M.Arch & M.Com

For M.Com.

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Those candidates who have a bachelor degree in management/commerce from a recognized University are eligible for the M.Com programme.

For M.Arch.

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: Those candidates who have passed B.Arch. from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]

Masters in Library and information Sciences is provided by the Department & Library & Information science. M.Lib.I. Sc also has the mode of lateral entry admission in which candidates can get admission to the second year of the course.

Duration: 2 years

NOTE: Duration for lateral entry is 1 year.

Eligibility: Those candidates who have done B.Lib.I.Sc from a recognised college are eligible for the Masters course.


Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: Those candidates who have done MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS BNYS/BPT/BSc Nursing/B.Pharm from a recognised University with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible for the MHA programme.

DM [Cardiology] , DM [Gastroenterology] & DM [Neurology]

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: Candidates are required to have MD in General Medicine or Paediatrics from any college recognised by the Medical Council of India.

The institute offers M.Tech and M.E., with 25 and 12 different specializations respectively.

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: The candidate must have cleared their qualifying exams in a relevant field with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Application Process

M.Sc (Medicine) , M.Sc & MA

Candidates can apply for the programme by visiting the Manipal University website. There are two different sections for application, one is for the Indian admissions and another is for international admissions.

For the Indian admissions, the application fee is INR 600 and the entrance test fee is INR 1400. For the foreign nationals, the application fee is INR 2500. 

Admission to the following courses is through the Manipal Entrance Test (MET).

The application can be submitted by following the simple steps:

  • Register by creating your log-in credentials.
  • Select the category.
  • Fill in the Basic information including personal details, course details, and location.
  • Select the program and make the online payment for that program.
  • Submit the contact details through which the University can communicate.
  • Submit the Educational Details.
  • Read the Declaration.
  • Proceed to the Payment section.

Payment of application fee can be done through Credit card/Debit card/Net banking.  
The candidate has to upload certain documents as per the requirements.

Admission Process

Master of Arts [MA] (Media and Communication) & Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Candidates are required to appear for Manipal University Online Entrance Test(MU-OET) conducted on All India level. Candidates are provided with the facility to select their test schedule according to their convenience.

University will release a merit list of those candidates who have qualified the entrance test. These students are required to appear in an interview and group discussion.

User facts:

The inclusion of one’s name in the merit list based on the entrance test doesn’t guarantee selection, a final merit list will be released by the university based on the performance of candidates in qualifying exams, GD and interview.

M.Sc (Medicine)

There is no entrance test for this course; selection is made on the marks scored in the qualifying exams.

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]

There is no entrance test for this course; selection is made on the marks scored in the qualifying exams.

DM [Cardiology] , DM [Gastroenterology] & DM [Neurology]

Admission to Doctorate of Medicine is made on the basis of past academic performance, result of test conducted on department level, viva-voce and interview.

NOTE: Candidates must present the photocopy of following documents along with the application form:

  1. Post-internship professional experience
  2. Post MD professional experience
  3. Publications in reputed professional journals

Master in Hospital Administration [MHA]

Admission to these courses is made on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exams and interviews. There is no entrance test for these courses.

User facts:

For all the courses separate merit will be constituted for the foreign nationals.

Financial Aid:

The State Bank of India provides financial support to those students who are meritorious but lags on financial aspects.

Bank provides a loan of INR 7.5 lakhs to deserving candidates without any security. This amount may be extended to INR 30 lakhs if candidates produce something as a security for the money taken as loan.  Bank allows the repayment of loan by the candidate up to 12 years.

Parent’s annual Income scholarship:

  • Up to INR 3 lakhs: 100%
  • 3 lakhs to 5 lakhs: 90%
  • 5 lakhs to 7.5 lakhs: 75%
  • 7.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs: 50%
  • 10 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs: 25%
  • Above 12.5 lakhs: 10%


  • Those candidates, who are eligible for a 100% scholarship, should have to pay 5% of the annual fee or 5% of family annual income, whichever is less.
  • To claim for the scholarship candidates are required to provide an attested copy of Income Tax return of parents’ income.
  • The scholarship does not contain hostel fees, expenses on books, etc.

Konkani speaking students:

There is also a provision of providing scholarship to those candidates who have linguistic command on Konkani language. They are provided with a waiver of 10% in the course fee.
