Manipal University (MU) MD and MS Admission 2019: Courses, Application form, Entrance Exam, Fees

MD, MS, M.Ch and M.Pharm are provided by Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University in different specialisation. Application for MD and MS is to be submitted in the month of February and entrance test is to be conducted in the month of February itself. Application form for M.Pharm and M.Ch is to be submitted in the month of May and June respectively. Application can be made through online mode for which payment is to be done through net banking/Credit card/Debit card. An entrance test is conducted for the selection of candidates for MD, MS, M.Ch and M.Pharm programmes on All India level. For MD and MS courses, seats are reserved for those selected under the Directorate of Medical Education and for those candidates who are interested to serve as a teaching faculty for a minimum period of 3 years. University also has a tie up with the State bank of India, which provides education loan facility to deserving candidates. Eligibility Criteria


Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) are provided by the Kasturba Medical College in different specializations.

Duration: 3 years

  • Candidates must have done MBBS from any University recognised by the Medical Council of India.
  • Foreign nationals/NRI supported by the Indian relatives can also apply under foreign/NRI category.

Note 1: Foreign nationals/NRI supported by cousin brother/sister, aunt, uncle brother / sister-in-law or any other person will not be accepted.

Note 2: Duration for those candidates who have a diploma in same specialisation is 2 years.

  • Candidates having MS in general surgery from any college/University recognised by the Medical Council of India are eligible for the programme.

Application Process

M.Pharm , MD & MS

Candidates can apply for the programme by visiting to Manipal University website. There are two different sections for application, one is for the Indian admissions and another is for international admissions.

Indian admissions are done for Indian nationals for whom the application fee is INR 600 and entrance test fee is INR 1400. International admissions are done for foreign national for whom the application fee is INR 2500. Application is submitted in 5 simple steps:

Payment of application fee can also be done through Credit card/Debit card/Net banking.  A copy of photograph and signature of candidate is to be uploaded while filling the online application form.

Admission Process

Candidates are required to appear for Manipal University Online Entrance Test(MU-OET) conducted on All India level. Candidates have the facility to choose an appropriate slot for giving the test according to their convenience.

University will constitute a merit list for selection of candidates based on their performance in the test and the eligibility for the course.

User facts:

  • Few seats are reserved for the candidates selected under Directorate of Medical education. (For MS and MD)
  • Seats are also reserved under In-service category, in which candidates are required to serve as a teaching staff for at least 3 years after the completion of course. (For MS and MD)
  • Candidates are required to appear for an interview for admission to M.Ch programme.
  • A separate merit will be constituted for the foreign nationals on the basis of marks scored in the qualifying exams.

Financial Aid:

The State Bank of India provides financial support to those students who are meritorious but lags on financial aspects.

Bank provides a loan of INR 7.5 lakhs to deserving candidates without any security. This amount may be extended to INR 30 lakhs if candidates produce something as a security for the money taken as loan.  Bank allows the repayment of loan by the candidate up to 12 years.

Parent’s annual Income scholarship:

Up to INR 3 lakhs: 100%

3 lakhs to 5 lakhs: 90%

5 lakhs to 7.5 lakhs: 75%

7.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs: 50%

10 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs: 25%

Above 12.5 lakhs: 10%


  • Those candidates, who are eligible for 100% scholarship, should have to pay 5% of the annual fee or 5% of family annual income, whichever is less.
  • To claim for the scholarship candidates are required to provide an attested copy of Income Tax return of parents’ income.
  • Scholarship does not contains hostel fees, expenses on books etc.

Konkani speaking students:

There is also a provision of providing scholarship to those candidates who have linguistic command on Konkani language. They are provided with the waiver of 10% in the course fee.
