Karnatak University is an UGC affiliated institution established at Dharwad of Karnataka in October 1949. KarnatakUniversity offers Post-graduate courses in prominent faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Science and Technology and SocialSciences. The university provides a lot of specializations in these respective courses. There are 47 PG Departments, 224 teachers and 4500 students (PG, M.Phil., Ph.D.). There are 5 constituent colleges for UG and PG courses and 21 hostels in all, giving 2600 students accommodation respectively.
Admission to the PG courses is based on the entrance examinations conducted by the University and there are specific eligibility criteria for all the discipline courses. The admission depends upon 50% markson the qualifying degree examination and 50% in the entrance. You can download the Application Form and the bank challan (bank challan should be downloaded and printed in legal size paper) from the website .in or www.kudacademic.org or by contacting and the duly filled-in application form, along with all documents (including the original copies of the challan for Application Processing fee and Entrance Test fees) shall be submitted to the Chairman of the concerned department at K.U. Dharwad.
If you wish to apply to more than one Department/course then you shall submit the application form separately to the concerned Department.

How to submit the form
You have to remit the prescribed fees through the branch of any nationalized bank to the account of KUD at State Bank of India/Syndicate Bank by downloading the appropriate challan.
The concerned Account No. and IFSC code of the banks are given in the respective challans.
Next, you should attach the 2nd and 3rd copy of the Challan along with the application form and send the duly filled in application form along with all the documents to the concerned Chairperson of P.G. Department K.U. Dharwad.
Note- Application Processing fee and Entrance test fees shall be separately paid for each course for which the candidate desires to apply.
If you wish to apply for courses such as English, Kanada, Hindi, Sanskrit, Marathi, you must have a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline as an optional subject.
Urdu & Persian
You must possess a Degree with Urdu and Persian as an Optional subject with 40% Marks in aggregate and 50% marks in Optional Urdu / Persian. In case, there are vacant seats and you have a B.A. or B.Sc. Degree with not less than 45% marks in aggregate and 60% marks in Urdu and Persian Language, then you may also be allowed.
You should have B.A. with French as an Optional subject
Any degree or its equivalent plus Advanced Diploma in French (after 10+2 level) from any recognized University/ Institute.
You must have a degree or its equivalent plus Diploma Superieur from Alliance Franchaise (for French).
If you wish to apply, then Diploma/ Degree in French from any foreign university is must. Provided you have completed 5 years after SSLC (School Leaving Certificate).
Linguistics, Folklore, Music / (Non-Semester)
For these prominent courses you should have a degree from a recognized university and for Music, you must possess a B. Music degree from this university or from any other university.
If you are among the Sponsored candidates with a minimum of three years’ work experience and deputed by State/Central Government, then there will be two seats reserved for you from Industries and NGOs who shall fulfill the following conditions:
Sponsoring NGO/Agency shall submit its three years Audited Account and Annual Report.
Your deputing NGO/Agency shall execute a bond in the prescribed format. Sponsoring agency shall meet all the Course expenses.
The Children of leprosy affected parents will be given free Education as per the Government order F.No. 87-4/2010 (SU-I) Dt: July 28, 2010.
However you have to produce valid Medical Certificate from District Chief Medical Officer/Taluk/Primary Medical Officer to this effect.If you wish to claim reservation then you shall submit copies of the Cast/Income certificates, wherever applicable, issued by the Tahsildar during the period of 5 years prior to the date of this notification along with the application form.
If you wish to apply for the P.G courses in the University then the minimum eligibility criteria for seeking admission to all the PG courses, in general, shall be a pass in the qualifying degree examination with a minimum of 45% in aggregate (40% for SC/ ST/Cat-I candidates).
Then the next step is the entrance test which will be conducted for all courses. Your Admission shall be made on the basis of the merit list which will be prepared by taking into account, 50% of the aggregate marks obtained in the relevant subjects at qualifying degree examination (all three years), and 50% of marks obtained in the Entrance test. The relevant Entrance test will consist of 50 multiple choice questions (MCQ) and the duration of the Test will be 75 minutes.
