Christ University Ph.D. Admissions 2020: Application form, Eligibility, Dates

Christ University offers PhD program in five different streams- Science, Management, Humanities, Commerce, and Social Science for the duration of eighteen months. Admission in Ph.D. programs will be done on the basis of entrance test conducted by University. All the students must have 55% in their post graduation.

Application forms can be filled online for the PhD entrance examination in the first week of February. Students have to pay an application fee of INR 1000/-.

Students who have qualified UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, SLET, GATE, M.Phil or if student has done teacher fellowship then they are exempted from PhD entrance examination.

Christ University has two academic sessions one in June and the other in December. The University releases its application form twice in the month of february for the June session and in the month of August for December session.

The University offers all the program as full time mode as well as in part time mode. PhD full time scholars get a fellowship of Rs 8000. Annual fees for PhD in Christ University is of INR 60,000 /- for all the discipline.

How to apply

  • Visit the official website of Christ University i.e www.christuniversity.in
  • Click on create "login ID".
  • Enter the email address, mobile number and date of birth to get the login credentials.
  • Now students can login and fill the application form.
  • After filling up the application form click on "payment"
  • Students can now pay an application fee of INR 1000/- through Net banking/ credit card and debit card.
  • Students will get the admit card five days before the examination date.
  • Students have to visit the official website and they have to log in with the the help of application number and date of birth to download their admit cards.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Student must have 55% in the post graduation. Submit an equivalence certificate from AIU if student is an international product.
  • High academic performance in post graduation is eligible for direct admission in Ph.D. 
  • Research associate/ fellowship in major research project. 
  • For going on research project student must have completed one year in that project. 
  • For Ph.D in commerce or management holding membership of Institute of company secretaries/ Institute of chartered accountants of India/ ICWA should have 5 year of post professional qualification.  
  • For fellowship M.Phil, JRF,or UGC-NET qualified students are preferred. 

Entrance Examination: 

  • University conducts a 2 hour long Ph.D entrance examination of maximum 200 marks. 
  • There are two sections in the exam- section A & section B. 
  • Section A- There are 100 MCQ one mark each in research methadology. 
  • Section B- There are 100MCQ with one mark each in the specified or choosen subject.

Admission Process

Students have to appear for the entrance test excluding the students who have qualified UGC-NET, JRF, UGC CSIR NET, SLET, GATE and students holding teacher fellowship.

After qualifying the entrance exam students can appear for the skill assessment.

After skill assessment there will be a personal interview round.

Merit list will be prepared on the basis of all the above rounds, performance in previous degree and also on the basis of research proposal.

Students who have qualified UGC-NET, UGC-CSIR NET, SLET, GATE, M.Phil or if student has done teacher fellowship can apply for a course at any time of the year by sending up their proposal at phd@christuniversity.in

Admission Process for NRI and International students:

The process is different for International as well as NRI students as the category for them is different.

NRI and International students have to communicate directly with the University for admission.

Foreign nationals/ NRI/ PIO/ OCI can pay the application fee through demand draft. DD should be in the favour of Christ University, Bengaluru.

Fellowship:

All the students  studying at Christ university are eligible for CHRIST Junior Research fellowship for eighteen months. 
Students qualifying for junior fellowship can apply for next eighteen month fellowship for Senior Research Fellowship.
