University of Mysore Ph.D. Admissions 2020: Application, Eligibility, Selection process

University of Mysore offers admission to Ph.D. degree in 5 faculties. The total intake for the Ph.D. degree is 390. Admission to the course will be based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university. Qualified candidate of UGC/CSIR/JRF Fellowships OR qualified for Lectureship through UGC/CSIR NET Examination / K-SET/ GATE or Government / Aided College Teachers under FIP will be exempted from the entrance examination.

Candidate holding a Masters degree in the relevant subject will be eligible for the entrance examination and further admission. Applications for Entrance Test shall be invited usually only once a year and the entrance test is conducted generally during the month of September/ October.

Application form will be available at the official website of Mysore University (http://www.uni-mysore.ac.in) and it can be submitted offline and online. The application fee has to be submitted through Net Banking/Credit/Debit Card/Demand Draft in favor of University of Mysore.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce

The applicant must possess the following eligibility criteria: 

  • Master’s Degree or any other Degree/ Diploma in the related subject from a recognized university. 
  • A minimum of 55% marks or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or an equivalent Grade must be secured in the qualifying examination.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks will be given to the reserved category students.


Application Process

Application form can be filled online as well as offline.

Online Mode:

  1. Visit the official website of the University: www.uni-mysore.ac.in
  2. Tap “Ph.D Admission”
  3. Register by providing the email id and contact number.
  4. Login credentials will be sent through mail/SMS.
  5. Fill the required personal details.
  6. Enter academic information.
  7. Upload scanned photograph and signature along with the required documents.
  8. Pay the application fee through Net Banking/Debir/Credit Card.
  9. Click on the submit button.
  10. Take a print out of the submitted application form for future reference.

Offline Mode:

  1. Download the application form from the official website of the university.
  2. Fill it manually with all the required personal and academic details.
  3. Draw a Demand Draft  in favor of Finance Officer, University of Mysore
  4. Post the filled application form, Demand Draft and supporting documents to:

Selection Process

M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts , M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce

Admission will be based on the performance in the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

  • Eligible candidates will be called for the entrance examination on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination.
  • Entrance examination qualified student will be invited for interview.
  • The final merit list will be based on the marks secured in the examination and interview.
  • Document verification will confirm admission.

Exam Pattern:

  1. Duration: 3 hours
  2. Question Type: 50 Question will MCQ based and rest will be essay type.
  3. Syllabus: Follow the syllabus of CBSE/CSIR NET
  4. Maximum Marks: 100 Marks
  5. Qualifying Marks: Securing at least 55 marks out of 100 (50 marks out of 100 i.e., 50% in case of SC/ST/PC/CAT-1 candidates) in the Entrance Test shall be declared as eligible to apply for admission to Ph.D
