The University invites Applications for admission to the M.Sc., M.Sc. (Integrated) and MCA Programmes for the academic year. The admission to M.Sc. Programme is based on merit. For Integrated M.Sc., admissions are through the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) and for MCA Programme, they are through the MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test).
The University offers Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programme which is for a duration of 2 years offered under the Faculty of Science and in various Affiliated Colleges of MU. It also offers an Integrated M.Sc. Programme for admission right after 10+2 level which is a 5 year course. The Master in Computer Application (MCA) Programme offered by the University is a two year course.
Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which is established in 1857 and located at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India. Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. It has established its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs various professional courses. At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-reach activities. The University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.
In the last five years it has seen 104% increase in under-graduate students. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. More than eighty of its teachers are on various professional bodies. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years.

You should have either passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination of University of Mumbai in Science or equivalent degree of any other university recognized as equivalent thereto with one of the corresponding subject as major subject.
You should have passed the Class 12th examination or equivalent from science stream (having any combination of Biology/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics) from any recognised Board securing at least 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade and 55% in aggregate for SC/ST category. Where only letter grades are available, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage of marks is required. In the absence of such a certificate, the decision of the Admissions Committee of the concerned Institution will be final.
Age: You should be not more than 20 years of age in case of general and OBC category and 25 years in case of SC/ST/PD categories.
For Direct second year admissions, you should have passed Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science).
Nationality: You should be an Indian National only.
You can obtain the Application Form from the University main campus. The entire application procedure is offline.
You should fill the form with the required educational and personal details. You should also affix a passport size photograph.
Application Fee: You should pay the Application Fee of Rs. 100 in cash from 11 am to 1 pm and 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm on weekdays except Second and Fourth Saturdays.

You must download the application form online through the NEST website.
You should fill the form with the required details. You must then attach a passport size photograph and scanned copy of your signatures.
Application Fee: You can make the payment of the amount given below, by Demand Draft or using credit card/debit card/net-banking through online payment gateway. The Demand Draft for required amount should be prepared from any bank and should be drawn in favour of NISER-NEST and payable at Bhubaneswar.
Online payment portal: The multi–modal payment portal offers payment by credit card/debit card/net-banking of multiple banks. If you are opting for online payment, you need not send any document to NEST office.
Demand Draft: If you are making payment through DD, you must write your name and application number at the back of the DD before dispatching. The DD should be sent along with a printout of the application summary obtained at the end of the application process. Please do not staple the DD with the summary page. You should send the DD preferably by speed post at the address given below which must reach NEST office.

You are required to apply online on the website link for MCA Programme, where you should click on the option "APPLY ONLINE" which will open a new screen.
To register application, choose the tab "Click here for New Registration" and enter Name, Contact details and Email-id.
You should then carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application.
Upload the photograph and signature in JPG or JPEG format. The photograph must be a recent passport style colour picture against a light-coloured, preferably white, background. The size of file should be between 20kb to 50 kb with 200 x 230 pixels (preferably) and 4.5cm × 3.5cm dimensions. The scanned signature should be on white paper with Black Ink pen. The size of file should be between 10kb to 20 kb with 140 x 60 pixel (preferably)
Application Fee: You should pay the Application Fee mentioned below by using Debit Cards (RuPay /Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets. You should also take a printout of the e-Receipt.

Once you have verified all the details, then click the “Final Submission” button. The registration process is now complete.

You will be selected on the basis of National Entrance Screening Test (NEST).
The question paper will consist of 5 sections of objective (MCQ) type questions carrying 50 marks in each section. The examination is of 3 hours duration. Section 1 is the general section and is compulsory for all. There will be no negative marking in general section. Sections 2 through 5 will contain subject specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. You are permitted to attempt as many subject-sections as you wish. However, only the best three subject scores along with the score in the general section will be counted for evaluation and merit list preparation.
The questions are designed to test your subject comprehension and analytic ability. In the subject sections, there will be negative marking for incorrect answers. Some questions may have one or more correct answers for which marks can only be earned by marking all correct answers and no wrong answer. For NEST question papers of last few years, you can refer to the NEST website. Language of the question paper will be English only.
Syllabus: The syllabus for NEST primarily follows the NCERT/ CBSE science syllabus of class 11th or 12th. There is, however, no specific syllabus for the general section. Questions will be designed to test analytic abilities and comprehension of scientific passages. Some of the questions in this section may require knowledge of class 10th mathematics.

You will be selected on the basis of MAH-MCA-CET (Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test).
The Online CET would be comprised of two online papers including General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC) of 100 marks each, with composite time of 90 minutes duration. Each paper shall have 25 questions.
The test will comprise of multiple choice objective type questions with Four Options. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark.
