Mumbai University M.Phil. Admissions 2020: Dates, Admission Procedure, Application Form

Mumbai University offers undergraduate, postgraduate programs, research programs, diploma and certificate courses in numerable specializations.  Mumbai University offers M.Phil program under the Faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law and Finance in multiple disciplines including sociology, philosophy, education and commerce. Only candidates with the relevant qualifying degree are eligible to apply for the M.Phill program.

Candidates will be admitted to the course based on their performance in the Written Entrance Exam followed by a Personal Interview, conducted by the respective Faculty of the university. Those seeking admission can download the application form and submit them upon completion to the university office. How to apply

Candidates can download the prescribed application form along with the eligibility form available at the official university website. Duly filled-in forms containing the required personal and educational details must be submitted in person to the concerned department office.

Application Fee: Candidate should pay the following fee in cash at the time of submission of application forms:

  • INR 220 (eligibility fee)- For candidates from universities in Maharashtra.
  • INR 320 (eligibility fee) – For applicants other than Maharashtra state.
  • INR 220 (enrollment fee- For Candidates from other University (other than Maharashtra state).

Enclosures: Candidate should attach the self-certified copies of the following documents:

  1. Graduation Mark sheets & Degree Certificate
  2. Post-graduation Part – I & II Mark sheets and Degree Certificate
  3. Caste certificates (in case of reserved category)

Candidates should submit completed applications, along with the required documents and fee, in person only at the respective Department of the Mumbai University between 11.00 a.m. – 01.00 p.m. and 02.00 p.m. - 04.00 p.m. on all weekdays and first, third and fifth Saturdays. 

Note: Applications sent by post will not be accepted by the university.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants holding a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 55% aggregate of marks (in case of general category) and 50% marks (in case of reserved category) from a recognised University.


Selection Process

  • Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the Written Entrance Examination (80 marks) + Oral Interview (20 marks).The total passing marks will be 50 including marks secured in Written & Oral Examination.
  • Both the examinations will be conducted by the respective Department of the University. The syllabus for the written exam will be based on your master’s degree course.

Hi Diksha, candidates can apply for this course on official website of the university. Moreover, only those candidates who have scored at least 55% or more in their post graduation are eligible to apply for this course. Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks scored in written test conducted by the university.

Hi Bharat, students who have Masters Degree (MA) in relevant stream with minimum marks of 55% or above, or its equivalent are eligible to take admission in the mentioned course. Candidates from other disciplines may apply and will be considered on case by case basis, subject to clearance of an Aptitude Test. Admission to this programme is open to those who qualify in M.Phil. Entrance test / GATE/UGC-JRF/UGC-NET/UGC-SET.
