Mumbai University (MU) was the oldest University which was established in 1857 and located at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India. Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. It has established its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs various professional courses. At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-reach activities. Mumbai University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.
In the last five years, it has seen a 104% increase in undergraduate students. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. More than eighty of its teachers are on various professional bodies. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years.

The University invites applications for various postgraduate courses for the academic year 2019. These courses are offered in the Faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce, Performing Arts and Fine Arts. The postgraduate courses are full time and of two years duration. The applications for the programmes are available on the University website and after the online submission must be submitted to the respective colleges.

You should be a graduate in any discipline from any recognized University.
Any person who has passed the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education from MU or any other university recognized as equivalent with a minimum of 45% (40% for reserved categories) may be admitted to the Degree of Master of Arts in Education.M.Com
One should have passed the examination for the degree of Bachelor of Commerce (three years/Six Semester integrated course) or the degree B.Com. (Old Course) or the other Semester based Programmes i.e. Bachelor of Commerce (Banking & Insurance) or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) or Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Markets) or Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S.) of this University, or an examination of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto, and secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in case of reserved category.Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib.I.Sc]
One should have passed Bachelor’s degree of this University in any faculty in second class and the degree of Bachelor of Library and Information Science of this University in good second class (i.e. minimum 50% or above and 45% or above for Reserved Category, or should have obtained qualification recognized equivalent thereto by this University.Master in Social Work [MSW] & Master of Labour Studies
One must have taken the Bachelor’s degree of this University in any faculty, or the Bachelor’s degree of any other University recognized as equivalent to the Bachelor’s degree of this University.
You should log on to the official website of the University and select the link for “Pre- Admission Online Registration” provided on upper right corner of the home page.
You should then click on “Apply Online” and register yourself by entering your authentic details in the relevant fields and click on “Register”.
You will receive a verification code and a link on your mobile through SMS in some time. You must log in with your verification code, enter all the specific particulars on the online application form.
You should attach your recent passport size color photograph of dimensions 35mm x 45 mm with a minimum 72 to maximum 150 DPI resolution.
Registration Fee: You should pay the Registration fee of Rs. 100 through a Demand Draft in favour of “The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai.
You should then submit the Application online.
Once you fill the Application Form successfully and apply, you will have to submit/send the print out of the Application Form along with necessary documents to every course-college separately for which you have applied.

For Eligibility Certificate (If applicable): You will be required to attach the Eligibility certificate if you are from a University other than the Mumbai University.
You must approach the Registrar of the University or any of its constituent colleges and obtain the Eligibility Certificate for the following fees paid in cash: Rs. 220 if you are from universities in Maharashtra
Rs. 320 if you are from other University (other than Maharashtra state)
You will be required to attach this along with your Application Form at the time of the final admission.
If your Bachelor’s degree is in the same course in which you are seeking admission, with 6 papers in that subject, you will be admitted on the basis of merit. If it is 3 papers, you will have to appear for an Interview.
If you have done your Bachelor’s in a subject other than the one you are seeking admission in, you will be selected on the basis of a written test consisting of 2 papers in the subject in which you desire to register for your M.A. degree. Paper 1 will be an essay paper in the subject, and Paper 2 shall be a paper to test your general acquaintance with the subject.M.Com

You will be selected on the basis of merit. However, if you are a graduate of a University other than Mumbai University seeking admission to the course, you will have to apply to the Registrar of this University for a Certificate of Eligibility.Master in Social Work [MSW] & Master of Labour Studies
