Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which was established in 1857 and located at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India.  Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. It has established its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs various professional courses. At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-reach activities. Mumbai University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.

In the last five years it has seen 104% increase in under-graduate students. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. More than eighty of its teachers are on various professional bodies. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years. The University offers Master in Pharmacy (M.Pharm) Programme. As per the new Credit Based System of Mumbai University, it is two semester (one year)theory and practical examinations and two full semester research work. The course focuses on specialisation in the field of pharmacy. The programmes are intended to give an immersive professional experience and an opportunity to acquire further competence either in one’s own discipline.

The University invites applications for admission to the M.Pharm. Programme for the academic year 2020-21. The admission is through either MHT-MPH-CET 2020 Examination or GPAT 2020 Examination.

How to apply?


You should apply online on the GPAT website.

You should fill the Application Form with the required personal and educational details.

You must give 3 preferences for the Test Centre from the given list of centres available in the form.

Application Fee: You should pay the following Application Fee either online (Credit card/Debit card/Net banking) or in cash through the challan at any branch of SBI bank:

  • Rs. 1400 + Bank charges for general and OBC category
  • Rs. 700 + Bank charges for Females/ SC/ ST/ PD category

If you are paying in cash, you need to take 3 print outs of this Challan, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies, and walk in to your nearest SBI bank branch with cash on the next day of generation of Challan. Cash Deposit will be accepted only from the next day of your Challan generation.

You must then fill in the details of your payment and submit the Application online. Your registration is now complete.

You must then fill the Form with the required details.

You should take a printout of the online form and check for various entries made in application. You must correct them online if necessary

 Application Procedure: You should pay the following application fee in cash through challan from any nationalised bank:

  • Rs. 1200 for General category
  • Rs. 1000 for SC/ST category

Enclosures: You should attach the relevant document for substantiating the claim made in online application form:

  • Valid and qualified GPAT-2020 score card.
  • B. Pharm. degree mark list (If result declared) OR Bona fide certificate from the Principal / Head of Institute if appeared for Final B. Pharm. examination
  • HSC mark list / Certificate
  • SSC mark list / certificate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Gap certificate (If applicable)
  • Caste certificate (If applicable)
  • Caste validity certificate (If applicable)
  • Sponsorship letter (If applicable)

You should download and print the pay-in-slip available on website. Fill it for the amount mentioned in the online application printout and pay the necessary amount in the selected bank counters.

Submit the duly filled in application form along with one copy of payment of fees (pay in slip / challan) to the concerned Application Receipt Centre in person only. You should not send printout of online application form by post/courier to Application Receipt Centre for confirmation

You should then pay Rs. 100 at Application Receipt Centre during confirmation of application as application processing fees. All relevant original documents will be verified at ARC, without which your application form will not be confirmed at Application Receipt Centre.

You should collect the signed and stamped receipt of confirmation of application form and hall ticket for MAH-MPH-CET 2020 examination (for non-GPAT 2020 candidates only) from ARC Head. Your registration is now complete.

Eligibility Criteria

For Non-Sponsored Seats:

You should have passed B. Pharm. degree or appeared in final year / final semester of B. Pharm. from any AICTE approved institution affiliated with University (approved by UGC), with at least 55% marks in general category and at least 50% marks in case of SC/ST category and Persons with Disability (belonging to Maharashtra State only)

You should also have obtained Registration with the State Pharmacy Council or should obtain the same within one month from the date of admission

For Sponsored Seats:

Apart from above qualifications, you should have a valid sponsorship letter along with 2 years of work experience.

Nationality: You should be an Indian national only.

Reservation Criteria

The reservation for Backward Class categories will be only for candidates of Maharashtra.

1/3rd of the 15 % seats shall be reserved for children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and 2/3rd of the 15 % seats shall be reserved for the PIO/Foreign Nationals etc. However any vacant seats out of 1/3 category shall be reverted to the quota of 2/3 meant for PIO/FN.

Selection Process

Your selection will be based on either of the following examinations: MAH-MPH-CET 2020 or GPAT 2020.


The exam paper includes 150 questions in the form of objective multiple-choice-type questions. The duration of the test is three-hours. There is no negative marking for an incorrect answer. The questions will be based on the topics - natural products (Pharmacognosy & Photochemistry), Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Clinical Pharmacy.

You should be able to secure a non-zero score in the exam.

GPAT 2020:

GPAT is the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test. It is a national level entrance exam conducted by AICTE. It is a three-hour computer based test conducted in a single session. The exam contains a total of 125 questions with 4 marks for every correct answer. The exam has negative marking with 1 mark being deducted for every incorrect answer.

You should be able to qualify GPAT with a valid score.
