Mumbai University B.Pharm. Admissions 2019: Dates, Admission Procedure, Application Form

Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which was established in 1857 and located at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India.  Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. It has established its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs various professional courses. At national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and outreach activities. Mumbai University was accorded 5 star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.

In the last five years, it has seen 104% increase in under-graduate students. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. More than eighty of its teachers are on various professional bodies. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years.

The University invites applications for admission to Bachelor in Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) Programme for the academic year 2019-20. The admission is through the MHT-CET (Maharashtra Technical Common Entrance Test) 2019 to be held on May 5th, 2019. It will be conducted at all the district headquarters of the State of Maharashtra. The entire application process is online and must be completed by March 22nd, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria


You should have passed the HSC (Class 12th) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics and secured a minimum 50% marks i.e., not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks for general category and 45% marks i.e., not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks for Backward Class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State. Maximum of marks obtained in Biology/Mathematics shall be considered for the purpose of addition.

How to apply?



Step 1: You should register for MHT-CET online on the official website. You will find the Application under the “MHT-CET-2019 Registration” link.

Step 2: You should fill in the Application form with the personal details with a valid email id, mobile No. and a password on the first login.

Step 3: You should upload a recent colour passport size photograph and signature in JPEG format only. The file size of each of them should not be more than 50 KB per file. The file name of Photograph and signature should preferably be photo.jpeg and sign.jpeg respectively. The picture should be taken against a light/white background. The signature should be on a white paper with a black ink pen. Scan the signature in 200 dpi (dots per inch) scanner resolution settings.

Step 4: You must then download and print the MHT-CET bank challan on an A4 size paper on a single page. Make the payment through the Bank Challan from any branch of SBI Bank for:

  • Rs 800.00 + Rs 60.00 Bank Commission - Open Candidates
  • Rs 600.00 + Rs 60.00 Bank Commission - Reservation Category Candidates

Step 5: You should log in to MHT-CET-2019 registration using your MHT-CET-2019 Registration No and password after 24 hours of making the payment and confirm if the Bank transaction ID No. and date of payment have been updated. This completes the registration process. You should take a print out of the Registration Confirmation page.

For Admission to the University:

You should apply to the Registrar for a statement of eligibility, except in the case of students from the Universities in the State of Maharashtra at Registrar, University of Mumbai, M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai-400 032

Application Fee: You should then pay the Application fee of 

  • ­Rs. 200 only if you have domicile in Maharashtra 
  • Rs. 300 for domicile out of Maharashtra State 
  • Rs. 730 for Foreign Nationals

The Registrar may issue a provisional statement of eligibility if he is satisfied that you are prima facie eligible for admission to this University. 

You will be required to show this provisional statement of eligibility, at the time of seeking provisional admission to this University along with the necessary certificates in original together with a typed copy of each for confirmation of your eligibility.

Selection Process


You will be selected on the basis of MHT-CET 2019 i.e., Maharashtra Technical Common Entrance Test.

The MHT-CET-2019 will consist of three question papers. Each paper is of 100 marks and of one and half hours duration. For applying to B.Pharm. Programme, you should appear for Paper I & Paper-IIand/or Paper-III. Paper 1 consists of Physics and Chemistry, Paper-II consists of Botany and Zoology; and Paper III consists of Mathematics. Paper I and Paper II have 100 questions with 1 mark for each correct answer. Whereas Paper III has 50 questions with 2 marks for every correct answer.

Syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the MHTCET-2019 will be the same as for the current year for HSC Examination (i.e., March 2019) of HSC Board of Maharashtra. The MHT-CET-2019 will be conducted at all the district headquarters of the State of Maharashtra.

Reservation Criteria

The reservation criteria will be as per the norms prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra.
