University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD) is a state agriculture university established by the Government of Karnataka which imparts education, research and extension activities in the fields of agriculture, forestry, food science, agro-marketing and home science.

The University awards Merit Scholarships and General Scholarships based on the merit to the students of all the colleges as per regulation and also Free-Studentships as per the Government orders.

Graduates are appointed as agriculture scientists, agriculture officers in state and central governments, banks and other financial institutions such as insurance companies. With the setting up of commodity exchanges in India, degree holders in agriculture are in greater demand.

Candidates from states other than Karnataka are not eligible to seek admission directly for all Under-graduate degree Programmes in the University. However, they can apply to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

Selection is made on the basis of marks secured in +2 level PCB.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agricultural Marketing and Business Management) , Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Agriculture) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Home Science)

A pass in two years PUC science examination of the Department of Pre-University Education, Government of Karnataka with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with any one science subject OR an inter-agriculture subject.

How to apply?

Offline method:

Application can be obtained from the SBI, UAS Campus branch, Dharwad or the Deans of the college of Agriculture, Bijapur/Hanumanamatti; College of forestry, Sirsi on payment of requisite fee in the form of demand draft.

Online method:

Application can also be downloaded from the university website and in such cases the candidates may send demand draft towards requisite application fees along with filled in applications.

NOTE: The application fees for Under Graduate Degree Programme is Rs.500/-(Rs.250/- for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates)

* For admission to all the undergraduate degree programmes, the candidates can submit a common application.


* Candidates from foreign countries are required to send their applications through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi-110 001, India.

Selection Process

Selection will be made on basis of a merit list prepared according to marks obtained in the +2 level examination.

For the seats reserved for Agriculturists or Children/ward of Agriculturists, mode of admission shall be as under:

The merit list will be prepared based on 50% marks secured in PCB in II year PUC science and 50% marks secured in the Practical Test. The Practical Test shall be conducted for 200 marks in the University on the specified date. The Practical Test shall consist of any or all of the following:

  • Ploughing over a short length
  • Yoking of Bullocks
  • How to approach Cattle for milking
  • How to hold a lamb or sheep
  • Identification of Agricultural Implements
  • Identification of Grains
  • Identification of Agricultural Fertilizers / Manures
  • Identification of Fruits / Vegetables
  • Identification of Agricultural Crops
  • Identification of Agricultral / Veterinary / Fishing Equipments
  • Identification of Forest Species
  • Identification of Fodder Crops
  • Identification of Farm Animals
  • Transplanting of Paddy
  • Harrowing over a short length
  • Seeds sowing
  • Weeding
  • Harvesting\

The candidates who fail to appear for practical test will be considered as ‘Not eligible’. Those candidates who attend the Practical Test and score less than 100 marks will also be considered as ‘Not eligible’ for claiming seats under this quota.

Reservation Criteria

  1. 23.8% for agriculturist.
  2. Remaining 76.2% are general out of which further reservations are as follows:
    • Rural 15%
    • Kannada Medium Study 5%
    • Special categories 12% (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Children of defence personnel or ex-servicemen/Sports quota etc.)
