University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur (UASR) is a state agriculture university established by the Government of Karnataka which imparts education, research and extension activities in the fields of agriculture, forestry, food science, agro-marketing and home science.

Graduates are appointed as agriculture scientists, agriculture officers in state and central governments, banks and other financial institutions such as insurance companies. Work assistantship to Ph.D. students:The Value of the work assistantship shall be limited to Rs.1000/- per month at the rate of Rs.40/- per hour not exceeding two hours per day. 

Selection is made on the basis of marks secured in the entrance test and graduation degree.

How to apply?

Offline method:

Application can be obtained from the SBI, UAS Campus branch, Dharwad or the Deans of the college of Agriculture, Bijapur/Hanumanamatti; College of forestry, Sirsi on payment of requisite fee in the form of demand draft.

Online method:

Application can also be downloaded from the university website and in such cases the candidates may send demand draft towards requisite application fees along with filled in applications.

NOTE: The application fees for Post Graduate Degree Programme is Rs.600/-(Rs.300/- for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates)

Eligiblity Criteria

The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in the concerned discipline for each subject group from a recognized University with CGPA / OGPA of not less than 2.25/4.00 or 6.00 / 10.00 or an equivalent CGPA / OGPA.

For SC/ST/Cat-I candidates, mere pass is enough.

Reservation Criteria

  • Reservation of seats shall be made as per State Government Order in force from time to time. In addition, seats will be filled through ICAR nomination based on All India Entrance Examination.
  • 3% for physically challenged category.

Selection Process

Selection will be made on the following basis:

  • Weightage to the extent of 50 per cent marks in qualifying degree.
  • Marks obtained out of 45 marks in Entrance Test
  • Weightage to the extent of 5 per cent marks for pass in All India Competitive Examination conducted by ICAR/CSIR for admission or for award of JRF/ SRF to Postgraduate programmes in the concerned year.

Exam pattern

The written test consists of 100 multiple choice questions which may be answered in a maximum of 75 minutes.



The value of merit scholarship for students of Master’s and Doctoral degrees shall be Rs. 800/- and Rs. 1200/- per month, respectively plus full freeship and it shall be tenable for 12 months.

The value of a graduate assistantship shall be as follows

  • Master’s programme Rs. 2000 per month
  • Ph.D programme Rs. 3000 per month


  • For Master’s degree, the value of Fellowship shall be a maximum of Rs.800/- per month. A student getting scholarship from Government of India / other agencies shall be awarded the difference of the amount falling short of Rs.800/-.
  • For Ph.D. students, the Fellowship amount shall be a maximum of Rs.1000/- per month. A student getting scholarship / assistantship from the Government of India / other agencies shall be awarded the difference of amount, falling short of Rs.1000/-
  • A contingency amount of Rs.3000/- per year per student shall be awarded to both Master’s and Ph.D. students.
