Indira Gandhi National Open University had recently extended MCA registrations till 28 February 2020. The registration process had started from 15 November, 2019. The registration is conducted twice a year: in January and in July.

IGNOU offers the MCA course under the school of computer and information sciences. To be eligible for admission, the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration from a recognized university. In addition, they must have studied mathematics as a compulsory subject at the 10+2 level or as an ancillary in college. The course lasts from three to six years.

Since this is a distance course, the university does not provide assistance in placements.

IGNOU MCA Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must fulfill these eligibility criteria to get admitted to IGNOU for MCA:

  • The candidate should have a three-year graduate degree from a recognized university.
  • The candidate should have studied Mathematics in 10+2 or in college.
  • In case the candidate did not study Mathematics, they have to pursue and pass the BCS-012 course concurrently with IGNOU MCA.

How to register to IGNOU for MCA?

To register for MCA, follow these steps:

  • Visit the admission portal of IGNOU.
  • Click on ‘New Registration’. The student registration form will appear.
  • Type in your personal details. Choose a username and password.
  • Fill in the security code and click on ‘Submit’.
  • You may use the ‘Reset’ button to make any necessary changes.
  • The username and password will be sent to you by email and SMS.

The following documents will be required at the time of admission:

  • Scanned image of recent passport size photograph
  • Scanned copy of signature
  • Scanned copy of category certificate, if applicable
  • Scanned copy of educational qualifications
  • Scanned copy of experience certificate, if any
  • Scanned copy of age proof.

GNOU MCA Fee structure

  • The fees for the full programme are 72,000 INR, with 12,000 INR to be paid per semester.
  • Non- Mathematics students have to pay an extra 1,400 INR in the first semester for the BCS-012 course.
