The IISc Bangalore MBA application process commenced on 1 February 2020 and will end by 30 April 2020 (midnight). Also, the classes are scheduled to begin by 1 August 2020. Students seeking admission need to apply online from its official website.

Department of Management Studies (DMS), IISc Bangalore offers a two-year program in the Master of Management (M Mgt) program. Only BE/B Tech candidates are eligible for this program. Candidates will be shortlisted based on academic records, and GMAT/CAT/GATE scores that are valid until August 2020. 

The expected overall cut-off for CAT is 99 for the general category. Final selection is however dependent on performance at group discussion and personal interview.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria can be broadly categorized into academic qualification and entrance examinations requirements.

  • Academic qualification: Students with 4-years’ program of BE/B Tech/ BSc (Engg)/ BS (technical area) with a minimum of 60% marks or first class. 
  • Examination: Candidates should have taken CAT (2019)/ GMAT(2018)/ GATE (should be valid till 2020). 

Documents Required

At the time of online application, students should keep scanned copies of the following documents:

  1. Valid scorecards of GMAT/CAT/GATE
  2. Mark sheets of classes X, XII and graduation.
  3. Certificate of work experience (if applicable).
  4. Caste certificate (if required).
  5. Medical certificate for fitness.
  6. Declaration by students and parents
  7. Bank passbooks (preferably State Bank of India/ Canara Bank)
  8. Aadhar Card (Indian students) and passport (for overseas candidates)

Selection Procedure

  • Candidates will be shortlisted based on their GMAT/CAT/GATE score. 
  • The relaxation criteria is considered while selecting candidates belonging to different categories as per the Government of India guidelines.

Final Selection

  • The final selection is done based on the performance of the selected candidates in group discussion and interview. 
  • Shortlisted students have to appear for group discussion and interview on the stipulated dates at the DMS, IISc Bangalore.
  • However, the recent modifications in the selection procedure for 2020-2021 session ensures 100% weightage given to GMAT/CAT/GATE score. 
  • Thus, group discussion and interview remain customary to the selection process.

Admission Procedure 2020: IISc Bangalore M Mgt

The admission procedure for M Mgt courses can be categorised into three phases: online application, shortlisting for group discussion as well as personal interview and final selection.

How to apply online?

Students have to apply online for the M Mgt program on the official website of IISc Bangalore the details steps are stated below:

  1. Visit the official website: https://admissions.iisc.ac.in/
  2. Click on the PG programs icon. You will be directed to the admission page where you have to click on ‘New user to register’.

  1. After the registration process, verification mail will be sent to the email ID. Students can then start applying online after confirmation.
  2. Enter all the personal details and upload scanned copies of photographs and signatures.
  3. Make payments for application through internet banking, credit or debit card.

Students are also advised to retain scanned copies of application form and payment receipt in pdf format for future reference.

The Department of Management Studies (DMS) of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was established in 1948. The 2020 QS Global ranking holds IISc in 350th position for its management program. Being the oldest business school in India, the institute offers a Master of Management (M Mgt), a full-time management program for a duration of 2 years. Ques. Can a student apply for admission even if graduation is not over?

Ans. Yes, students can apply but they have to submit the certificate of completion while taking admissions into the university. The certificate should mention the completion of all projects, viva-voce etc and submitted within 1 week of joining the institute.
