Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur offers a number of courses and programs. The Institute is providing education to thousands and thousands of students since 1856. It is an Institute of National Importance since 2014. The Institute offers degrees in M.Tech, Integrated B.Tech – M.Tech, M.Sc, B.Arch, MBA, and MURP.
IIEST offers M.Sc in five subjects/Departments as well as two-year full-time AICTE approved MBA program. In order to take admission in MBA program offered by the Institute, students need to appear in MAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT.
Further, students also need to clear the Group discussion and Personal Interview conducted by the Institution itself. While, students who wish to take admission in any of the M.Sc courses offered by the Institute, have two options.
They can either get admission through CCMN, the centralized counseling procedure to admit M.Sc students in NITs or CFTIs. JAM qualification becomes mandatory in this case. Or, they can go through the direct admission procedure conducted by IIEST itself. The admissions in this procedure are done on the basis of merit and call for a written exam followed by a counseling procedure. JAM qualification isn’t mandatory in this case.
Applications for MBA admissions generally go live in February while for M.Sc, applications go live in April. Hostel accommodations are available for the students.

50 % out of the available seats are reserved for students who are admitted through CCMN. The rest 50% are reserved for students who are admitted directly.
Students need a minimum of 60% aggregate or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale in order to be eligible for direct admission in any of the M.Sc programs offered by the Institute.
For SC/ST/PwD students the minimum marks requirement is 55% or a CGPA of 6 on a 10 point scale.
In addition to the above marks requirement, students need to have a valid JAM score.MBA/PGDM
Students need a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 55% aggregate. A valid CAT/ XAT/MAT/CMAT score is also required.
For CAT/XAT, the score will be a minimum of 65 percentile. For MAT/CMAT, the score will be a minimum of 85 percentile. Students also need a good and consistent academic record.
*Students in their final year can also apply. Provided that the students meet the eligibility criteria before classes officially start.
Students seeking admission through CCMN need to register for CCMN by providing their e-mail ID and JAM score details. Login credentials are created, after which students need to fill basic details. Students then need to pay the counseling fees and keep the confirmation page’s printout safely with them. Finally, students need to fill and lock their choices.
Counseling procedure is then followed. The application fee for CCMN is INR 2000. Students seeking direct admission need to fill the application form available on the official website of IIEST along with the payment of application fees.
Students shortlisted will be called for an Entrance exam; students who qualify will then be called for counseling.

Students need to fill an application form available on the official website of IIEST. The application form is to be submitted via e-mail only. Students also need to pay an amount of INR 300 (for SC/ST candidates payable amount is INR 150) by demand draft.
The DD is to be addressed to ‘REGISTRAR, IIEST, Shibpur’ and should be payable at Kolkata.
After the screening of applications, students are called for Group discussion and Personal Interview. After which, a list of selected students is announced.
Documents required for verification:
Students seeking admission through Centralized counseling (CCMN) will need to fill the counseling application available on the official website of CCMN. JAM score details will be also required. Further, they will need to pay the counseling fees and fill choices.
Seats will be allotted after documents verification online. Seat Allotment Letter will be issued to students. Students finally will need to report at reporting centers or allotted Institutes. Spot round will be opened at last which will require fresh registration by the students.
Students seeking direct admission need to report at IIEST after the announcement of merit lists. Documents are to be verified and the fee is to be paid.

Students seeking admission in the MBA course offered by IIEST will be judged not only on the basis of their academic records but also on their CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT score (50%), Group discussion (20%), and Personal interview (30%).
A final list is released after the students are judged on all the above parameters. The final list announces the selected students after which students need to report to IIEST for submitting documents and admission.
50% of available seats are reserved for students seeking admission through CCMN and rest 50% are reserved for students seeking direct admission. Other than that following reservations are applicable.
