Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi offers various Management level courses under the Department of Management Studies (DMS IIT Delhi). The department offers MBA, MBA in Telecom, Executive MBA, MBA for Foreign students and Ph.D in Management Studies.

IIT Delhi MBA Admission is entrance based. Students who qualify for national level exams like CAT or GATE or UGC-NET or JRF or CSIR, etc. are exempted to appear for the internal test conducted by DMS at IIT Delhi. They can directly appear for the interview.

In some cases like EMBA and Ph.D students are also required to have a certain level of work experience in order to be eligible for admission. They must also meet the minimum aggregate and qualify the test (internal or national). 

Candidates with a valid score in CAT are eligible for MBA (general and MBA (telecom) admissions. While foreign students must have either GMAT or CAT scores along with a valid UG degree for admission to IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi MBA Eligibility Criteria

For MBA (General):

Candidates should have graduated in BBA or any equivalent discipline from any recognized University or Institute, with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA. (A relaxation of 5% is given to reserved category candidates)

For MBA (Telecom): 

  • Candidates should have Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Physical/ Chemical/ Mathematical Sciences from any recognized University or Institute. 
  • A minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA is mandatory. (for SC/ST/PD category candidates, relaxation of 5% is applicable)

For EMBA: 

  • Candidates should have Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)/ Statics, Operation Research, Computer Application, Economics, Commerce from any recognized University or Institute. 
  • A minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA is mandatory. (for SC/ST/PD category candidates, relaxation of 5% is applicable)
  • Work experience of two years post completion of the previous qualifying degree is mandatory.

For MBA (for Foreign Students): 

Candidates should hold bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized University or Institute and should have cleared GMAT / CAT.

For Ph.D. in Management Studies:

Admission to Ph.D is possible subject to fulfilment of either of the following criteria:

  • Students who qualify for ME/M.Tech with 60% or 6.0 CGPA are directly eligible for admission to Ph.D program. OR
  • Students qualifying for MA/M.Sc/MA/MBA/MBBS or equivalent degree with 60% aggregate and have scores in any national level examination are also eligible. OR
  • Students who qualify BE/B.Tech with 70% aggregate are eligible for admission. They must also qualify for a national level exam.
  • There is a 5% relaxation for the reserved category students in each case. 

Note: Sponsored students must submit a No Objection Certificate stating a full time 3 years study leave from the current employer.

MBA (General & Telecom) Admission Procedure

The Institute prepares a list of selected candidates based on the academic merit and CAT score of the candidates and publishes in the official website of the institute. 

The shortlisted candidates should visit the Institute on the mentioned date to attend the written test and/ personal Interview. 

The written test and interview will be held at IIT Delhi.

Selection of the candidates for the final merit list is based on the score called Admission Index, which is a calculated score out of 100 given to a candidate with their performance in the following sections:

How to apply for CAT?

  • Candidates should visit the official website https://iimcat.ac.in where they can get the online admission form.
  • Fill in the details in the application form without error and upload the scanned copies of required documents.
  • Submit the admission form and a registration ID and Password will be generated.
  • Pay the application fee before the last date
  • Post submitting the application form and payment of registration fees admit card will be provided.

EMBA Admission Procedure

Institute will prepare a list of candidates who have registered online for the Executive MBA program and publish in the official website. 

The selected candidates must appear for a Computer based written test qualifying which the candidate would be called for a personal interview.. 

Short listing of candidates for written test and personal interview is based on the score called selection index, which is a calculated score out of 100 given to candidates with their performance in:

Ph.D. Admission Process

Selections for admission are based upon the student's score and rank in GATE. Further the applicant is shortlisted for a written test followed by an interview if they are not national level exam qualified.

Final selection is based on the compilation of all three factors and individual scores in:

  • Previous Qualifying Degree
  • Written Test: of 1 hour
  • Personal Interview (same day as on the test)
  • Overall Academic Performance
  • Work Experience (minimum 10 years)

Note: Students must qualify for the above requirements in order to get enrolment in Ph.D at DMS IIT Delhi.

Students are exempted from appearing for the internal entrance if they have qualified any national level exam like GATE or UGC-NET or JRF or SLET or CSIR, etc.

  • 10th and 12th mark sheet

Ques. What is the percentage of seats allotted in reservation?

Ans. Reservation of Seats for SC/ ST/ OBC-NC/ PwD candidates has been made according to the rule of Government of India.
  • 15 % for Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7.5 % for Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • 27 % for other backward classes
  • 10 % for Economically Weaker Section (EWS)
  • 5 % for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

Ques. What is the eligibility criteria for CAT examination?

Ans. Candidates should hold Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50 % marks or equivalent CGPA from any recognized University or Institute. Students belonging to final year of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.

Ques. What is the exam pattern for CAT?

Ans. The CAT examination consists of 100 questions and 300 marks. Total exam duration is 3 hours. Each right answer will be awarded 3 marks and 1 mark will be reduced for each wrong answer. The question paper consists of three sections namely Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation.
