TIFR Integrated M.Sc - Ph.D Admissions 2020: Eligibility, Entrance Exam, Result

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) was established in June 1945 with the active support of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. In 1962, the Institute shifted to its present campus at Colaba, on the shores of the Arabian Sea. In May 2002, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research was declared a deemed university by University Grants Commission. 

TIFR offers the Integrated M.Sc - Ph.D. in 4 disciplines. Registrations for the Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D. will last till November 23.

Male candidates can register by submitting the application and corresponding fee of INR. 900/-. Female candidate can register themselves by submitting the application fee of amount INR 300/-.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the above-mentioned courses based on their performance the entrance test, to be conducted by the university. Check TIFR Admission

Eligibility Criteria

The university offers Integrated Ph.D. programme in the following disciplines:

Mathematics:

Candidate must possess B.A./B.Sc./B.E./ B.Tech degree from this university or any other recognized university.

Physics:

  • Candidate must possess M.E./M.Tech./B.Sc./B.S./B.E./ B.Tech./B.Chem. in Physics, Engineering Physics, or equivalent degree from this university or any other recognized university
  • Candidate must possess any other degree in Science / Engineering / Medicine, or equivalent from this university or any other recognized university
  • Candidate with 4 or more years of university education who clear the written test are also eligible.

Chemistry:

Candidate must possess B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm degree from this university or any other recognized university.

Biology:

Candidate must possess bachelor’s degree in any basic science from this university or any other recognized university.

Admission Process

Students will be shortlisted for admission to Integrated M.Sc- Ph.D./programme on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test (GS) followed by an interview, to be conducted by the university.

How To Apply

  • Candidates can fill the application form online through the university website by logging-in through their credentials as generated by the system upon successful registration. After filling the form, candidates can pay the application fee online through internet banking or Debit/Credit Card.
  • Male candidates have to pay the application fee of Rs. 900/- and Female candidates have to pay INR 300/-.

Documents Required: 

  • Scanned Copy of Passport sized photo and Signature (80 KB).
  • Scanned Copy of Recommendation letter of HOD/Principal for apply under Fee Waiver Category.
  • Scanned Copy of Disability Certificate (If Applying under PwD).
