Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, established in the year 1993, under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, as a modern super specialty hospital, and was granted the status of a university in the year 1995 by an act of A.P. State legislature. The major objectives of SVIMS includes service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology. Latest technology in diagnostic wing and total computer automation of patient care has been implemented in this institution for the first time in our Country. 

SVIMS has been recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) since 2003 for conducting various DM, MCh and MD courses. The University invites Applications for admission to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Programme in various specializations for the academic year. The admission will be based on the Entrance Test (SVIMSPGCET) conducted by the University.

How To Apply

You must apply online through the University website.

Step 1: You should navigate to link “Apply On-line SVIMSPGET”.

Step 2: After reading the Prospectus carefully, you must click “Apply On-line” and then click “Register” for opening Basic Registration Page.

Step 3: You must then create an account using a valid e-mail id, your name and Mobile Number. You should enter your full name as given in the MBBS degree certificate. The system will generate an application ID.

Step 4: You can then logon to the application using the application number and password which has been sent to your registered email id and registered mobile number by way of SMS provided during the registration process.

Step 5: Fee payment: You have to pay an amount of Rs.2000 plus taxes through online mode Debit / Credit Card/ Internet Banking.

Step 6: You will then be directed to Personal Details page. You must carefully fill the required details and click on “save”.

Step 7:Photograph: You should upload a recent colour passport size photograph with light background in the size not more than 500 kb in a .jpg/.jpeg format.

Step 8: Signature: You should then upload your signature which should be inserted in an area of 2” x 1” (inch) on white paper with thick black ball point pen. The signature may be scanned, cropped and saved in 500 kb in a .jpg/.jpeg format.

Step 9: Uploading the documents: You should upload the following documents:

  • MBBS degree provisional / original certificate.
  • MBBS consolidated marks memo. (If not available, computerized marks statement of all the years prepared in a single sheet and attested by Principal/ Gazetted officer to be uploaded)
  • Certificate of Internship.
  • Medical council registration certificate (Temporary/Permanent)
  • Caste certificate for those who are claiming under reservation category
  • Person with Disability (PWD) certificate for those who are claiming reservation under PWD category
  • Residence certificate for the candidates who are coming under non-local category

Step 10: You should check if your application is completed in all aspects, and then only click “SUBMIT”. This will generate registration slip. You should take a print out of the “application” for future reference.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You should have passed MBBS degree from a medical college recognized by MCI and completed internship at the time of applying.
  • If you will be completing your internship on or before March 31st, you are also eligible to apply and you will have to submit your application along with internship completion certificate.
  • You must have registered with the Medical Council of India / State Medical Council.
  • In case you are already studying PG Degree/ Diploma course, you shall not be permitted to appear for entrance test unless you fulfil the requisite bond condition executed for the course you are presently enrolled in. You should also submit an evidence in favour of the same from the University.


The statutory reservations will be applicable to the candidates of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes belonging to the State of Andhra Pradesh only.

  • Admission to 85% of the seats shall be reserved in favour of the local candidates in relation to S.V University region comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Cuddapah and Nellore in the following distribution:

  • There shall be 3% reservation (horizontal basis) for differently-abled (PH) with locomotive disability of lower limbs between 50% - 70%.
  • 33.33% of seats are guaranteed for women candidates in each category i.e. open competition, SC, ST, BC and other reservations.

Admission Process

You will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test conducted by Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati i.e., SVIMSPGET

The entrance examination is common to all the post-graduate courses and consists of 150 questions of multiple choice type. The duration of the exam is 135 minutes. All the questions will be of one best/ correct response type having four alternatives. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect response. The exam is computer based, i.e., it is conducted online.

You should be able to secure a minimum of 50% marks for open category, 45% marks for persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs and 40% marks for SC, ST and Backward Classes.
