Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, established in the year 1993, under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, as a modern super specialty hospital, and was granted the status of a university in the year 1995 by an act of A.P. State legislature. The major objectives of SVIMS includes service, training and education in advanced medical sciences and technology. SVIMS has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted permission and later recognition to start PG super-specialty (DM/MCh) courses in cardiology, neurology, nephrology, endocrinology, medical oncology, CT surgery, neurosurgery, urology, surgical oncology & surgical gastroenterology. 

The University invites applications for the DM / MCh Programmes for the academic year. The admissions will be based on SVIMSPGSSET Entrance Test conducted by the University.

How To Apply

You should fill the Application Form online on the website.

Step 1: You should navigate to link “Apply On-line SVIMSPGSSET”.

Step 2: After reading the Prospectus carefully, you must click “Apply On-line” and then click “Register” for opening Basic Registration Page.

Step 3: You must then create an account using a valid e-mail id, your name and Mobile Number. You should enter your full name as given in the MBBS degree certificate. The system will generate an application ID.

Step 4: You can then logon to the application using the application number and password which has been sent to your registered email id and registered mobile number by way of SMS provided during the registration process.

Step 5: Fee payment: You have to pay an amount of Rs.2500 plus taxes through online mode Debit / Credit Card/ Internet Banking.

Step 6: You will then be directed to Personal Details page. You should also enter the qualification details as per the study from MBBS to PG degree (MD/MS/DNB), along with the work experience details if working in any institution/ medical college (Govt./ Pvt.). You must carefully fill the required details and click on “save”.

Step 7:Photograph: You should upload a recent colour passport size photograph with light background in the size not more than 500 kb in a .jpg/.jpeg format.

Step 8: Signature: You should then upload your signature which should be inserted in an area of 2” x 1” (inch) on white paper with thick black ball point pen. The signature may be scanned, cropped and saved in 500 kb in a .jpg/.jpeg format.

Step 9: Uploading the documents: You should upload the following documents in pdf format only having size not exceeding 1mb (1024kb) for each document:

  • MBBS - consolidated marks memo.
  • MBBS - Medical council registration certificate
  • MBBS - No. of attempts certificate (if not mentioned in the consolidated marks memo)
  • PG Degree - (MD/MS/DNB) Provisional / original certificates
  • PG Degree - No. of attempts certificates
  • PG Degree - Medical council registration certificate

Step 10: You should check if your application is completed in all aspects, and then only click “SUBMIT”. This will generate registration slip. You should take a print out of the “application” for future reference.

Eligibility Criteria:

You should have passed MD/MS/DNB examination from the Medical college/ Institutions recognized by MCI. In case you are waiting for the results, or unable to upload the pass certificate, you can mention “WFR” (Waiting for results) in the application provided you submit the pass certificate compulsorily on the day of counselling.


The statutory reservations will be applicable to the candidates of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes belonging to the State of Andhra Pradesh only.

  • Admission to 85% of the seats shall be reserved in favour of the local candidates in relation to S.V University region comprising the districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, Cuddapah and Nellore in the following distribution:

Backward Classes29%


  • There shall be 3% reservation (horizontal basis) for differently-abled (PH) with locomotive disability of lower limbs between 50% - 70%.
  • 33.33% of seats are guaranteed for women candidates in each category i.e. open competition, SC, ST, BC and other reservations.

Admission Process

You will be selected on the basis of SVIMSPGSSET. The exam will be computer based and shall be conducted by Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati.

There will be a separate question paper each subject will consist of 100 multiple choice questions in the speciality concerned. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. All the questions will be of one best/ correct response type having four alternatives. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded one mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect response.
