MGU Kerala MA, M.Sc, M.Ed, LL.M Admissions 2020: Courses, Time Table, Result

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala popularly known as MGU, is a UGC approved university which has grown to be amongst the top universities in India. It offers 300 academic programmes for undergraduate and postgraduate level all over India. MGU offers the following PG courses to its students through CAT-MGU entrance exam:

  • Master of Arts (M.A.)
  • Master of Science (M.Sc)
  • Master of Education (M.Ed)
  • Master of Law (LL.M)

Students who satisfy eligibility criteria can register for admission to the concerned PG programme by filling the application form and submitting the required fee through online payment modes. Admission in these programmes will be done on the basis of their performance in the university entrance examination (CAT-MGU), after which they will be called for counselling.

How to Apply

  • Candidates can log on to official university website and click on the CAT-MGU 2020 link or one can directly log on to Upon registration, candidate will be alloted a username and password for their account which they should use to fill the concerned application form
  • Candidates should fill the application form with all the relevant details as prescribed by the university. After selecting the programmes, the candidates should pay the registration fee only through online payment mode. THERE IS NO OFFLINE METHOD FOR PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEE.
  • The details of the registration fee is as follows:
  1. For General Candidates - INR 500 per programme/cluster of programmes.
  2. For SC/ST candidates from Kerala – INR 250 per programme/ cluster of programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility: Candidate must possess L.L.B. degree with not less than 50% marks (or CGPA of 2) in the aggregate

Reservation Criteria

There are three types of reservation applicable in the CAT MGU examination. These three types of reservation are:

  • Reservation for Persons with Disabilities

Candidates in the following three categories will be treated as Physically Handicapped category:

  1. Blind
  2. Deaf
  3. Orthopedically challenged

Candidates with 40% or more of any disability as certified by a Medical board constituted for this purpose will be considered for reservation in this category. For such candidates there is a 3% seat reservation for all the programs.

  • Special Reservation

Candidates falling under the following categories will be considered under the special reservation category


Reservation of Seat

Economically Backward among forward communities (EBFC)

  • 7.5% for Professional courses
  • 6.5% for non-professional courses

Teacher quota (for M.Ed. only)

One seat

Foreign Students quota

10% of seats or 2 seats, whichever is higher

Admission Process

Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to M.Ed., LL.M and selected disciplines of M.Sc and MA on the basis of marks scored in the CAT-MGU entrance examination, conducted by the university itself.
