Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 1887 which was a result of the amalgamation of Hyderabad school and Madarsa-i-Aliya. Nizam’s is the most reputed and oldest institution imparting higher education in South India. Nizam’s was affiliated to the Madras University for around 60 years and after that it was made a Constituent College of Osmania University on February 19th in the year 1947. In the year 1988-1989 Nizam’s was first granted Autonomous Status for the best Undergraduate courses by UGC. Nizam’s has completed 25 successful years of autonomy.
NIMS offer various courses and invites application for MD and MS courses for the year 2019-20. The institute has a placement cell which provides on-campus job recruitments and is connected to the most famous industries like Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, Satyam, GE, Nipuna, etc. A total of 25-50 reputed companies visit the campus in order to heir the students from the institution.
Nizam is inviting applications for the MD and MS courses for which limited seats are available for the most deserving candidates. Eligibility to take admission in the MS and MD courses is MBBS. The duration for these courses is 3 years. Admission for the same will be held in the month of April/March for which the last date of application submission will be 31st of May. Candidates seeking admission in MD/MS need to hold a MBBS degree from a recognized university with minimum 45% marks.
How To Apply
MD & MS
Selection of the candidates for the courses under MS/MD will be done on the basis of merit list. The selected candidates will be invited for the counselling and the best deserving candidates will be selected for admission keeping in mind the seats available for each course.
a) In case the candidate avails the seat but fails to pay the fee or fails to submit the necessary documents on the spot will not be granted admission
b) If a candidate has made the payment, but fails to submit the admission form or the relevant documents will not be granted admission.
c) In case a candidate violates the rules of the institution, the admission for the same can be cancelled by the authorities.
d) No readmission will be granted after completion of four weeks of opening date of instructions.
Candidates who pass the entrance exam will be called for a counselling which is scheduled at 10 am, dated: 31st May, 2019. Candidates are requested to report for the counselling half hour before the counselling starts. The counselling will be held at Academic 3 Section, 2nd floor, Old OPD Block, NIMS.
Candidates are to bring the hall ticket, Counselling fee of Rs. 10,000 along with the certificates and documents in original which are mentioned in the prospectus available on the official website of NIMS. Candidates will not be entertained after 10am.
The candidates who are selected provisionally, are requested to join the particular course immediately by fulfilling the conditions and the remaining admission fee of Rs. 1500/-.
Candidates are to submit all the original documents and complete all the formalities as mentioned on the prospectus.
MD & MS
Candidates seeking admission in any courses of MD/MS will be shortlisted on the basis of the merit list. For spot admission, when the candidate’s name, marks, etc, are announced, the candidate is to produce the receipt of the application form in order to obtain entry into the room where admission is taking place.
Candidates will be called for the counselling and the selected candidates will then have to fill the admission form and pay the fee on the spot. Candidates are to submit the original transfer certificate along with 2 sets of photocopies of the below mentioned certificates:-
Pass/Provisional Certificate of the exam that has been qualified by the candidates
Memorandum of marks obtained
Bonafide certificate/ Study certificate of school or intermediate
Candidates applying under any quota must submit the supporting certificate, for example if a candidate is applying under the BC quota then the supporting certificate is to be submitted in which it will be clearly mentioned that the candidate belongs to the BC category, same applies for all the other quotas.
If a candidate has passed from a board other that intermediate, Government of Andhra Pradesh, must submit the Migration certificate/ No-Objection certificate.
Candidates are to submit six recent passport size photographs along with the above mentioned documents.
Candidates must make sure that the above mentioned documents being submitted by them are valid and up-to-date. Also, candidates must pay the fee that has to be paid during the admission procedure.
85% seats are reserved for local candidates and the remaining 15% seats are reserved for both local and non-local candidates.
BC (A): 7%, BC (B): 10%, BC (C): 1%, BC (D): 7%, BC (E): 4%, ST: 6% and SC: 15%. Total 50% seats are reserved for the BC/SC/ST.
33.3% seats are reserved for women candidates in each course available.
5% seats are available for the NIQ Quota
60% seats are available for the students who had commerce as a subject and are seeking admission in B.Com. Rest of the 40% seats are reserved for both commerce and non-commerce streams.
Reservation is give to the candidates falling in the category that includes NCC: 2%, Games and Sports: 2%, Extra-curricular activities: 1%, Children of Ex-servicemen and Armed Personnel: 1% and physically challenged: 3%.
