Calcutta University PG Admissions 2020: Eligibility, Application Process, Result

Calcutta University offers PG courses like MA, M Tech, MBA, MSc, M.Ed, MCom, and M.Li.Sc with specializations. For admissions, aspirants must have at least 55% marks in Bachelor’s degree (5% relaxation for SC/ST/PwD).  Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of merit list or entrance examination score for PG admissions (vary from course to course). Generally, the online application process for entrance examination commences from May 2020 - June 2020 (tentative). The payment process is via bill desk gateway or demand draft.

The foreign students are exempted from the entrance exam and selected on the basis of interview.

 The eligibility of the Hons. Graduates from Universities outside West Bengal will be according to the decision of C.U Equivalence Department.


Hons./Major Courses in Arts at UG Degree Level from IGNOU/NSOU and the Distance Education Programmes of other Universities in West Bengal.


Qualified Pre-M.A. Examination of Calcutta University in the current year.

60% marks in B Tech


Valid GATE score in Electronics & communication and computer science


55 years (50 years for SC/ST/ PWD) of age as on June 30 of the admission year. 


B.Ed with 55% marks


55% marks in 4 years integrated teacher education degree program


 D.El.Ed/D.Ed with 55% marks and Bachelor’s Hons degree

Hons. or Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Technology / Medical Sciences / Professional Courses/ or its equivalent courses from any recognized university

How To Apply

  2. Candidates are advised to read online guidelines carefully and then apply.
  3. Click on the link ‘click here to register’ at the bottom of the login form.
  4. Enter your email id as user name, password and other details required.
  5. Proceed to fill in the form from personal info to the payment info page
  6. Fee payment via bill desk gateway (online mode).
  7. Click on the ‘final submission’ link.
  8. Download the confirmation page/copy of the application form.

NOTE- Post final submission of form, any kind of correction is not allowed.

Information required for filling in the online application form-

  • Photocopies of 10th, 10+2 and respective equivalent examination.
  • Softcopies of scanned passport size photograph and signature in CD/Pendrive/Email.
  • The email address of the candidate.

Documents required with application form

  • Self attested photocopies of marksheets from school leaving to the latest.
  • Caste certificate (if applicable).
  • Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rs. 750/- SC/ST/PH for West Bengal candidates only) in favor of “University of Calcutta”.


  • Submit the filled-in application form to the Department of Business Management, University of Calcutta, Alipore Campus (6th Floor), 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata- 700 027 (Time of submission 12 Noon – 5 p.m.) from November, 2018 to May 15, 2019.
  • Incomplete forms are liable to rejection.

Admission Process


The candidate is selected on the basis of marks in 10+2, Graduation and Entrance Test conducted by the university.


Candidates not having B Sc (Hons) degree from “Calcutta University” must appear in the entrance exam. The test will be of 100 marks and for a duration of 1 hour (includes negative marking).

Hi Baishali, You must note that for any entrance or merit-based admission, 60% seats (to be filled through merit) are reserved for CU candidates and 40% seats (to be filled through admission test) are reserved for Non-CU candidates.

Hi Kundu, students who have scored 60% (55% for SC/ST candidates) in graduation degree will be considered eligible for the course. Thus, you are not eligible.

Hi Somnath,To get admission in med, You must not be more than 45 years of age if you’re a fresher and 55 years of age if you are employed in Secondary/Higher Secondary Schools, Colleges, Government and Semi Government organizations, as on June 30th, 2018. There is a relaxation of age for maximum of 5 years for students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and Person with Disability categories.

Hi Nilay, The eligibility for You should have a B.Sc. Hons. Degree (10 2 3) in the respective subject, from a recognised University. You should also have secured a minimum of 55% marks in case of general category and 50% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD category in aggregate.
