Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow was established in 1996, by Government of India. It is recognized by UGC and accredited as an “A” grade university. The university offers various graduate, post-graduate & doctorate programs in its various schools.
BBAU offers a minimum 3-year full-time Ph.D. course in 24 specializations and a minimum 1-year M.Phil course in 8 specializations at the doctoral level.

Candidates are selected for Ph.D. & M.Phil on the basis of merit in the Entrance Test held by the university followed by an interview. The entrance test is 2-hour long consisting of 100 MCQs of 100 marks with 50% questions from research methodology and 50% from the concerned subject. Admission will be offered in the order of merit as per the results of entrance examination and the reservation policy of the university.
Note: Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teaching fellowship holders will be exempted from the entrance exam. Such candidates have to appear in the interview only.
