Presidency University BA and B.Sc Admission 2019

Established in 1817, Presidency University is a public state university situated in Kolkata, West Bengal which offers undergraduate, postgraduate as well as doctoral degree programs. For admission to various Under Graduate courses offered by the Presidency University for the 2019–2020 academic session, WBJEE Board will conduct common entrance examination i.e. PUBDET 2019. The university offers admission to the following UG programs: 

  • B.A. (Honours)
  • B.Sc. (Honours)

Only candidates with the relevant qualification can register for the Courses offered by Presidency university. Relaxation in the prescribed percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination is also provided for SC/ST/PH categories etc. Admission to the BA and B.Sc programs is done on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the Presidency University Bachelors Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET 2019), conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB).

Interested candidates can register for admission by filling the online application form and submitting it along with the required processing fee, on or before the last date, through the official WBJEE website. The application fee to register for PUBDET 2019 is INR 500 plus the Bank’s Service Charges as applicable which can be paid through Net Banking/ Debit Card/ Credit Card.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Bengali)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:36 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 60% marks in aggregate and 65% marks in Bengali from a recognized/valid board.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Economics)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:46 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 80% marks in aggregate and 80% marks in Maths (not Business Maths), and 70 % marks in English from a recognized/valid board.

Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (English)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:36 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 80% marks (Arts) OR 85% marks (Sci/Com) in aggregate and 75% marks in English or 65% marks in Eng.-A (WBHS) from a recognized/valid board.

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 60% marks in aggregate and 60% marks in Hindi from a recognized/valid board.

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:41 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 70% marks in aggregate from a recognized/valid board.

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 80% marks in aggregate (with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and 80% marks in Chemistry from a recognized/valid board

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:25 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 75% marks in aggregate with any 3 of following 11 subjects-Phys, Chem, Maths, Bio, Stat, Eco, Pol. Sc, Socio, History, Geography, Geology from a recognized/valid board.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Geology)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:30 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 70% marks in aggregate with PCM from a recognized/valid board.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Mathematics)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:46 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 75% marks in aggregate and 80% marks in Mathematics from a recognized/valid board

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Physics)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:46 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with 80% marks in aggregate and 80% marks in Physics and Maths combined from a recognized/valid board.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Statistics)

Duration of the course: 3 years, Intake capacity:25 seats

Eligibility: The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with75% marks in aggregate and 80% marks in Maths or Stat
from a recognized/valid board.


How to Apply

BA & B.Sc

Application for PUBDET 2019 has to be done online only. There is no printed application form.Candidates seeking admission must apply for by filling in and submitting the completed online application before the last date. Candidate can obtain the concerned application form by downloading from the official WBJEE website.

Candidate should log on to the university website and follow the below-given steps:

  1. Register with necessary details and remember the self-created login ID and password for future log-in
  2. Fill the application form with the required details
  3. Upload the scanned copy of the following documents – Recent passport-sized coloured photograph of the candidate, Full signature of the candidate, Age proof (Admit Card of 10th standard examination) or birth certificate, Mark sheet/grade card of B.A./B.Sc. (for PUBDET)
  4. Pay the application fee either online (by net banking, debit/credit cards) or offline (by e-challan)  payment modes
  5. Upon successful completion ofthe application, the system will generate a confirmation page containing all the details entered by the candidate.
  6. Candidate must keep the Xerox copy of the completed applications for subsequent use

Note: Application fee for PUBDET is INR 500 plus the Bank’s Service Charges as applicable.

The candidate should bring following important documents in original and their photocopies positively for verification during counselling:

  1. Transfer Certificate   
  2. Community Certificate (For OC candidates community certificate not required)   
  3. Certificates for Special categories, if required     
  4. Nativity Certificate if required   
  5. Date of Birth Certificate (SSC / ICSE / CBSE).
  6. Medical certificate
  7. Admit Card of PUBDET.
  8. PUBDET rank card
  9. Admit card of 10th standard examination/ Birth certificate
  10. Mark sheet and certificate of 10th standard Board examination
  11. Mark sheet and certificate (if available) of 10+2 standard Board examination
  12. Mark sheet and certificate (if available) of B. A. /B. Sc. examination


Admission Process

BA & B.Sc

The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 qualifying examination and score of the entrance test viz. PUBDET 2019 followed by the counselling.
