KUHS PG Medical Admission 2019

Kerala University of Health Science (KUHS) is the pioneer university in the field of medicine, Allied sciences & homeopathy. University has rules & regulations regarding affiliation of institutes & colleges in Kerala especially to provide professional education in Health care & related medicine. Till now total 249 colleges has been enrolled in KUHS for professional courses in health care industry. Along with the courses in PG Programmes KUHS also offers super speciality courses in D.M & M. Ch. Admission to all PG courses is completely merit based as decided respective competent authorities.

Students are advised to check the dates regularly to not to miss the deadlines related to application proceedings & commencement of classes. To take admission in KUHS, initially students have to appear for the medical entrance test conducted by Medical/Pharmacy/Dental Council of India with respect to the course. After briefing of score students need to apply in affiliated colleges of KUHS.

Doctor of Medicine (D.M)

  • Cardiovascular and thoracic surgery

Duration:  3 years


  • The students applying for post-doctoral course shall have obtained the degree of M.D/M.S. in related subject as decided by Medical Council of India (MCI).
  • Students with Membership of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (M.N.A.M.S) or Diplomat of National Board (DNB) shall be considered equivalent qualification, only if it has been granted on the basis of the results of competent examination and the candidate has worked in same or related specialty in a hospital attached to a medical college for at least one year during or after the completion of the training period prescribed by the National Board of Examiners.


Duration: 3 years

Students looking for admission in MDS course must have BDS degree (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) approved by Dental College and University recognized by the Dental Council of India and KUHS.

Doctorate of Medicine [MD] (Homoeopathy)

Duration: 3 years

  • Students looking for admission should possess Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery or equivalent qualification in Homoeopathy after undergoing a course of study of not less than five and half years duration including one year compulsory internship.
  • Students should have Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (Graded Degree)or equivalent qualification in Homoeopathy included in the Second schedule of the Act, after undergoing a course of study not less than two years duration.

Duration: 2 years

  • Student who has passed the B. Pharm degree examination of Kerala University of Health Sciences or equivalent examination with not less than 55% marks.
  • The student should have undergone B. Pharm degree course in an institution approved by AICTE and the Pharm Council of India (PCI).

M.Sc (Nursing)

  • The student should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • The minimum educational requirements is passing of regular degree course in Nursing e.g. B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. (Hons). Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing), with 55% marks, in an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
  •  Minimum one year of experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing is required.
  • One year compulsory nursing service/internship after successful completion of four year B. Sc. Nursing can also be considered.
  • Minimum one year of experience prior or after regular Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Students looking for admission in Master in Physiotherapy course should have passed the BPT degree examination of this university or equivalent.

Master in Audiology and Speech- Language Pathology [MASLP]

Duration: 2 years

Students must have passed BASLP/B. Sc. (Speech & Hearing) degree or equivalent from any recognized University in India recognized by RCI and approved by Kerala University of Health Sciences.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Medical Physiology)

Duration: 3 years

Students must have passed any of the following courses with minimum of 60% marks (BHMS, BAMS and BDS graduates need only 55% marks) in the qualifying examination from a recognized University given as: B.Sc. Physiology, B.Sc. Zoology, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Biophysics, B.Sc. MLT, B.Sc. Nursing, BPT 8. B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Microbiology

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Optometry)

Duration: 2 years

Students must have passed Bachelor of Optometry from Kerala University of Health Sciences or a degree in Bachelor of Optometry (four years) regular programme from any other Universities which is equivalent to degree of B.Sc. Optometry with minimum of 60% marks.


Duration: 2 years

  • Students looking for admission should be science graduate with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
  • In Commerce or Economics with 50% marks in aggregate and has studied science subjects at plus two level.

Duration: 2 years with 1 year of internship

Student must have passed in B. Pharm examination with a minimum of 50% marks from the institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Pharm. D.

Duration: 6 years

  • Students must have passed in 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects, Mathematics or Biology with a minimum of 50% marks for optional subjects.
  • A student must pass in D. Pharm course with minimum 50% marks from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act. (3) Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India.

Master of Science [M.Sc] (Medical Laboratory Technology)

Duration: 2 years

  • Students who have passed the B. Sc. (MLT) degree of any of the Universities in Kerala with minimum of 50% marks for all the years of B. Sc. (MLT) examination taken together will be eligible for admission.
  • Students who have passed their B. Sc. (MLT) course from other Universities will be eligible for admission only if their qualifying examination is recognized as equivalent to KUHS.

How to Apply for MD/MS/M.Sc and other Health Science Courses

Students have to apply in KUHS through the affiliated college (in which he/she want to take admission) within pre mentioned dates. Students looking for admission have to apply in KUHS through formal application along with the below mentioned documents:

  1. Marks sheet of Qualifying exam
  2. Transfer certificate
  3. Allotment letter
  4. Sponsorship letter/ employment letter/ passport in case of NRI’s.
  5. Prescribed fee for registration (INR 1000)

Documents required for MD course at the time of Application:

Where applicable, the candidate has to make an application to the university with the following documents along with the prescribed fee-

  • BDS degree certificate issued by the University / another recognized university / equivalent dental degree recognized by DCI.
  • Permanent Registration Certificate from State Dental Council.
  • Certificate of Recognition/Equivalency certificate of the qualifying examination in case of candidates who have passed BDS/equivalent degree from universities outside Kerala.

Admission Process for MD/MS/M.Sc and other Health Science Courses

Selection will be performed by creating a merit list on the basis of score obtained in entrance exam conducted by KUHS/Medical Council of India (MCI)/ Dental Council of India (DCI). Admission process will be finalized by the respective college in which a student has been admitted.

Note: No admission will be made after September 30, 2018 (tentative).
